Thread: The rubber band effect

Trapped in time ⌛️

Repeating a cycle of 3 steps forward & 4 steps backwards

How to break the chain ⛓
Pull the rubber band to touch a certain point & it will take force to keep it there

It always snaps back

When it does it lands further back than where it started

You’ll tap the point faster this way

But if you want to stay at that point you must use another way
Instead of tapping a point and using mountains of force to hold yourself there

To stay there we must gradually move the entire rubber band to sit upon that point

Making it our default position instead of one we must force ourselves to stay in
🔥 drastic methods to lose weight

You’ll tap the point of lower weight

But at what cost?
- Metabolism Slowed Down
- Intense Cravings & Mood Swings
- Not sustainable eating plan requiring force

Try to maintain it...

& Metabolism gets slower, meaning you need to eat even less
👆🏼this is equivalent to the hand giving out

It can’t hold the rubber band at that point forever

The longer you try to hold it the more fatigued you become in trying to hold on

Eventually it gives out

You go flying back & end up worse then where you started
But there’s also another major factor few people discuss

Identity 👥

As they say “easy come easy go”

When you gradually build your thoughts & beliefs

Your identity catches up to reality in harmony

Here’s what I mean...
If you lose tons of weight in a month

Your identity has a natural lag

Your core identity would still resonate, vibrate at, be in tune with not being a fit person

“As you believe so shall be done onto you”

🌲 When you gradually build the identity has time to grow like a tree
Going back to the physical definition

We must gradually inch the rubber band

Instead of doing something you know you won’t stick to long term

Make subtle tweaks, until they become effortless, then more subtle tweaks

Changes is subtle
But on social media it looks drastic
Losing weight Example

- Simply replace one of your meals each day with a healthier version, something you actually enjoy

- Add 20 minutes of walking

“That’s too easy?!?”

Good so you’ll do it

Once those are effortless default habits

Tweak again
Up it to 40 minutes of walking

Make 2 meals a healthier version you still totally enjoy.

Leaving around 400 calories for a treat at the end each day

Again, something you’ll stick to, make it too easy

Over time as your identity also follows you’ll be surprised...
Even the end of the night treat you’ll choose a healthier version even though you don’t have to

You could get ice cream 🍦

But you choose a dark chocolate bar or fruit bowl

🔑 The key is adding slight amount of discomfort. Minimal willpower to do it, until habit, then add more
Just like lifting

Do 200 until it’s easy
Then make it 220 until easy
Then 245

Progressive

Do 300 with a max of 200 you will fk yourself up

Same with business
Dieting
Skills
Anything
Don’t plan to tap & visit the point

Plan to nurture & gradually grow into residing at the point which you desire to be at

Making it your default baseline, the house you live in

Thank you for reading

- Yous
