I'm glad that @svdate asked the question, but the answer to the question of if Trump regrets lying... I mean, his official stance is that he regrets nothing ever, and "lying" is meaningless to him because he doesn't believe the truth is a thing that exists.
When downed with follow-up questions about if he regretted anything earlier in his admin, he said he regretted that Sessions had recused himself. Not even that he himself regretted appointing Sessions. He regretted what Sessions did. Regretting something is a sign of weakness.
Same reason that the man who trademarked "You're fired!" tries to run people into the ground until they quit or submit rather than firing them. Because his stance is, he hires the best people. Firing is like admitting you made a mistake.
Once someone is out of his employ, of course, they become a loser who couldn't hack it, and he gave them a chance when no one else would... he reframes his decision to hire them as a virtue. He will take credit, but - as he has admitted - no responsibility.
