What The Cover Of Atomic Habits Tells Us About Copywriting

5 Lessons In 5 Tweets

[ THREAD ]

Let's go👇
1:

Use Simple, Short Words

There are 17 words on the cover. Only two of them—Atomic and Remarkable—have more than 2 syllables.

15 of the 17 words are only one or two syllables.

Keep it clear. Keep it simple.
2:

Convey Ease

The cover taps into the timeless appeal of ease.

Phrases like...

-Tiny changes
-An easy and proven way

Tell the reader that ANYONE can do this and improve their life.

Simple words (good, bad, build, break) reinforce this message.
3:

Express Credibility

James Clear has developed a strong brand, which is the main driver of trust here.

But also note words that show authenticity and credibility:

-Easy
-Proven
-Remarkable

Finally, the last name Clear is a perfect one to write about these topics...
4:

Use Precise Words

Why is Atomic Habits a fantastic name?

Because of the word "Atomic."

It conjures up ideas of...
-Physics
-Systems
-Science

This, in turn, makes you think that James will be unlocking universal secrets that you can use to improve your life.
5:

Be Stylish

The cover's design is classy as hell.

-The metallic treatment
-The inviting sans serif type
-The atomized words of the title

But also note—even in this limited space—the use of alliteration at the top: "Remarkable Results"

It's hypnotic, appealing, and smart.
That's all friends!
