What a Perfection !

Amazing Stone Pillar, is believed to be built by PERUMTHACHAN (master craftsman).

Its four sides are identical and till now it is unknown how two parts were joint.

Some wonderful facts on Ellora Caves
1.ELLORA CAVES, one of the real wonder of the world is the largest single Rock cut Multi-storyed structures in the world .

2. Around 100 caves are excavated here between 5th to 11th CE out of which only 34 are in better state.
3.The Zenith of temple architecture at Ellora is Cave Nimber 16,the KAILASHA temple dedicated to Mahadev Shiva built in the 8th CE during the reign of Krishna l of Rastrakuta Dynasty.

4. It took about 93 years to be completed involving nearly three generations of workers.
5.The Kalisha temple is ment to be a lookalike of Mount Kailash,the mystical abode of Mahadev Shiva .

6.The Caves r carved out from Volcanic basaltic formation known as "Decan Trap".

The Anantasayana Vigraha of Shri Mahavishnu of Padmanabhaswami
Temple is of 18ft in length & have 12008 Salagramas.

When 12 Salagramas r worshiped together in a place,that place is known as MAHAKSETRA .
By having 12008 Salagrama this place is sacred as thousand Mahakshetras.
These Salagramas/ Shaligram were brought from the bank of Gandaki river in Nepal.
The Murti is so huge that no one can see the whole Vigraha at once. One has to see Him through three different Doors.
