Welcome to my fifth of 10 threads released on 10 consecutive days about starting an Instagram business!
Today’s topics:
👉How often should you post?
👉How to combine the reposting and original content strategies
👉Engagement groups
Let’s go! ⬇️
Post frequency is a hot topic among niche page builders. The advice given here is *subjective* that has worked for me and doesn’t have to be absolute.
📍The most important thing is to be curious and mix things up to see what works best for you
📍New accounts should post often (4-8 posts daily) to maximize the chances of a post going big
📍Midsize accounts should post less (1-3 times daily) because the algorithm favors accounts who *consistently* have well performing posts
They should also delete underperforming posts every few days
📍Big accounts can post more often, because at that size, every post is guaranteed to get massive engagement
👉Small: under 50k followers
👉Midsize: 50k-250k followers
👉Big account: 250k+ followers
And if you can get to 1 million, you can basically post as often or seldom as you wish
📍You should post more on the less frequent side if your posts are more information/text based
📍And more on the more frequent side if your posts are image based/easily consumed
Using reposted content is a bit controversial
It can lead to good content, but it makes it harder to establish your own brand
My personal strategy is to be repost heavy when you are small, and transition to (cont.)
📍A good way to transition is to use the alternating strategy
This is simply alternating every post between branded content and reposted content
This strategy is also recommended by @CJ_Johnson17th
Here’s a good example of this strategy being used by @NitiSarran
When you send a tweet, the first 17 minutes are the most important, as the engagement tells the algorithm how much to promote this tweet
This period is about 1 hour on Instagram
Having a business account like we discussed in thread 2 allows you to use analytics
Another strategy is to use engagement groups ⬇️
Engagement groups on Instagram work like the ones on Twitter
Accounts in a group engage with one another’s content to help each other grow
I classify engagement groups into 3 types:
👉Random
👉Coordinated
👉Paid
These are essentially mass engagement groups with thousands of members.
Pros:
👉Free
👉Enormous engagement potential
👉Easy to join
Cons:
👉Can be spammy
👉Not targeted
👉Require effort and time
👉Can hey you action blocked
Once you are done, you submit your own post and get that same number of engages back
These are operated by bots who make sure all members are compliant
This ensures Instagram does not catch on to the random engagement from different niches and suspend your account
These groups function the way twitter engagement groups function
Network with other accounts in your niche, form a DM group, and engage with each other’s content every day, or follow a schedule
👉Free
👉Targeted
👉Way less risk of action block
Cons:
👉Harder to join
👉Small engagement potential
However, coordinated engagement groups are better than random engagement groups
Paid groups are provided by agencies like Executive Mafia and the PP Network.
For a monthly fee, you can join a dedicated engagement group that ensures growth
Pros:
👉Targeted
👉High engagement potential
👉Moderated
👉Extra features and perks
👉Paid
If you can afford paid engagement groups, you can accelerate your growth pretty tremendously
📍A cool thing about engagement groups is that they work in “rounds”, meaning that there is a set time for everyone to submit their posts (ex. Every 3 hours)
Some random enagement groups also follow this style. Those are way better than ordinary random engagement groups
There are important ststegies and considerations to be made when using hashtags on Instagram, and most people use them wrong!
Thanks for following along! I’m excited to keep serving you with knowledge!!
