Well, organizing energy around a 9/1 general strike is picking up!

@jwjnational is promoting it, which is a big deal.

Any general strike *has* to have labor backing, and labor seems to be moving on this, which is HUGE.
I've written about the complexities of labor, Taft-Hartley, and general strike organizing here:

Taft-Hartley makes it really hard for any union currently under contract to participate in a general strike overtly without incurring huge costs.

Any kind of general strike really does need buy-in from effectively organized workers, who are most densely concentrated in unions.
So it is *huge* that there are unions making noise about this right now.

I wouldn't expect "we're doing it" statements, exactly, so much as language that tacitly lets members know that wildcat strikes won't be frowned upon.

It's a delicate dance.
JwJ is the labor/community organization I came up in, and in many places, it's one of the best ways to get connected to local labor struggle in a meaningful way.

I'd highly recommend contacting your local coalition (if there is one) and seeing what they're up to.
Also, check out this thread for 9/1 organizing info, and follow the author.

This feels like it has legs to me, if we can build energy around it.

I'd start seeing if you can locate that energy locally, or start creating it if it isn't there already.
