Today we celebrate 100 years since the 19th Amendment was ratified. The women who won our suffrage were told over and over again to give up, but they persisted. We have the right to vote today because they didn’t listen. #WomensVote100americanhistory.si.edu/creating-icons…
But we can’t talk about women’s suffrage and ignore the ugly truth: these early efforts excluded Black women and other women of color. And we must recognize that racist laws and practices still keep Black and Brown Americans from participating in our democracy now. #WomensVote100
We need to pass the John Lewis Voting Rights Act to fight racial discrimination in voting. We need a constitutional amendment to guarantee the right to vote to all Americans. And we need to fight back against Trump’s efforts to make it harder for Americans to vote. #WomensVote100
After 100 years, we still have a long way to go to make this democracy equal for people of every gender, race, ability, sexual orientation and background. But let's remember today the power we have to come together, raise our voices, and finally see progress made. #WomensVote100

Trump’s one legislative accomplishment is a $2 trillion tax cut for the wealthy & corporations. Now he’s proposing another giant tax cut - $48 billion per year to just the Fortune 100, which raked in $1.1 trillion in profits last year.
Here’s who your money would be going to:
Big Banks. Trump’s 2nd corporate tax cut would give $4.1 billion per year to 5 of the largest Wall Street banks, which reported nearly $113 billion in profits last year.
Big Oil. Trump wants to give the five largest U.S. oil companies a $2.5 billion annual tax cut, which made more than $90 billion in profits last year.
Tomorrow the Supreme Court will hear arguments from Republican officials and special interests trying to block President Biden’s plan to cancel student loan debt for millions of Americans. Today I released a new report about what’s at stake. businessinsider.com/student-loan-f…
President Biden has clear authority under the HEROES Act to cancel student debt which will provide targeted relief to low-and middle-income borrowers and offer financial freedom from crushing student loan burdens. Here’s what @1kWomenStrong had to say about the benefits:
Spurious challenges to cancellation are causing financial anxiety for borrowers. Denying relief would be a financial disaster. @YoungInvincible said "it would be devastating & carry generational implications…for communities of low-income backgrounds & communities of color.”
All three of my brothers served in the military—so it’s deeply personal that I'm leading the @SASCDems Subcommittee on Personnel. I'll fight to make sure we live up to our values when it comes to supporting servicemembers and their families.
No military family should have to live in homes infested with mold. I’ll hold private housing contractors accountable and work to improve military housing for service members. They deserve to live with dignity and respect. rollcall.com/2022/11/15/sen…
The American people shouldn’t have to worry if Pentagon officials are putting their own financial interests ahead of our nation’s interests. We’ve got a lot of work to do to close the revolving door between DoD & defense contractors & foreign governments. thehill.com/policy/defense…
50 years after the #RoeVWade decision, women have been cheated. Our freedom to make our decisions about our health and futures has been ripped away by Republican extremists who have decided they can crowd into the examining room and decide our fates.
Today, I am furious, but I am more committed to this fight than ever. I don’t want to make reproductive health care decisions for politicians — and I don’t want them making those decisions for me, my daughter, or millions of other women.
Republican extremists have come for our constitutional rights, and millions of us are fighting back. When we can get abortion rights on the ballot, we’ve said in one, big, loud voice: back off.
This is a lawless and reckless decision. @CFPB has returned billions of dollars to Americans by doing its job, and its funding is clearly constitutional. Extreme right-wing judges are throwing into question every rule the CFPB enforces to protect consumers and businesses alike.
The Fifth Circuit’s flawed logic also endangers the funding of numerous other bank regulators, including the Fed, OCC, and FDIC, which monitor our entire financial system.
This reckless decision could stop the CFPB from enforcing rules that prevent debt collectors from harassing you. Rules to stop banks opening fake accounts or closing your account without asking. Rules to stop financial firms charging you outrageous junk fees.
President Biden is cancelling up to $20,000 of federal student debt for as many as 43 million Americans — a powerful step to help rebuild the middle class.
This will be transformative for the lives of working people all across this country.
Cancelling student debt will provide financial relief to millions of Americans who borrowed to pay for college because they didn’t come from wealthy families.
This powerful action will also help narrow the racial wealth gap among borrowers.
The bottom line is this: Millions of working people will have a chance to build a more secure economic future because of President Biden’s decision to #CancelStudentDebt.
