QUESTION: “WHO OR WHAT IS AN ‘OPEN ENEMY OF ISLAM’ AND BY EXTENSION THE MUSLIMS?”

ANSWER: Any individual, group or entity who publicly defames, mocks and attacks Islam and Muslims without any willingness to sincerely engage.

This person/org/state seeks to criminalise and deform

normative Islam, and seeks to harm Muslims collectively via physical/military violence and/or via draconian/assimilationist policies.

It should be noted that jihad/military engagement can *ONLY* be declared by a legitimate Caliph/Sultan/Shaykh al-Islam (currently non-existent),

or that Muslims are obliged to defend their lands, property and family from a foreign invader or occupier (enshrined in international law, albeit hypocritically and politically applied).

But Muslims, mainly (but not restricted to) in the West find themselves engaging with

“Enemies” who are journalists, politicians, academics, intellectuals, activists, think-tanks and even celebrities — in this reality, the engagement is entirely non-violent, intellectual and polemical.

However, not all “enemies” are non-Muslims, *some* are Muslim, or at least

Claim to be Muslim while their outwardly speech and actions clearly suggest otherwise.

Not *all* non-Muslims who criticise Islam, the Quran, the Prophet (saw) etc are “enemies” if their critique is respectful and evidence-based with the intention to meaningfully engage.

But those who resort to mockery, foul speech, aggression, lies and intellectual dishonesty with the sole purpose to defame and demonise Islam and Muslims while making lucrative careers from it — these folk are “open enemies of Islam and Muslims”, and for these folk, the normative

and default standard of respectful, merciful and positive engagement doesn’t always apply.

There is a basis in normative Islamic tradition to mock, belittle, apply linguistic aggression, and yes, even curse these individuals and entities because outwardly they have professed and

made clear their harmful intentions and unwillingness to engage in any meaningful way except to defame and harm Islam and Muslims.

I reiterate that the above isn’t the default or the standard but subject to specific circumstances and types of detectors and interlocutors, and

in the WoT age that has led to rampant Islamophobia and anti-Muslim hatred/violence globally, the “open enemies” are not a few or fringe, but sadly many and mainstream.

And to them we say, with the truth and justice of Islam on our side, we’re ready to rock’n’roll if you are.😉
