Glad more reporting is coming on the "Pending Assignment" reporting fiasco but let's clarify some things...

"Pending Assignments" is not an error. Its an intentionally created category, tracked on the Dashboard and the DSHS Testing spreadsheet

** It was not hundreds of thousands. The backlog reached 1.132 Million on July 31. This is right off their own spreadsheet! Row 258!!! Image

Covid-19 Metrics for States with Bars & Casinos OPEN vs Texas - THREAD

Many Southern States opened Bars in May & show little, if any, difference with TX, which closed bars late June.

We start with a basic image showing the similar curves of the 4 states we will analyze

Here are full Covid-19 metrics on cases, hospitalizations and fatalities for all four states, all adjusted for population against the smallest state, OK.

Even more striking to see how similar all four states chart.

First direct comparison is TX vs OK

Open and closed dates noted in charts. You'd expect OK and its reduced density to outperform Texas. However, the difference is substantial. Also remember in addition to bars, over 90% of OK's nearly 100 Casinos are open for business.

Texas Fatalities by Date of Death vs Hospitalizations - 8/19 & 8/20

Didn't get this out yesterday. Fatality peak remains at 7/22. Still think final peak will be 7/22 or 23. Hosp curve really steep drop the past 2 days!

DoD on the past 2 days reported fatalities next:

Here is the Date of Fatality report for 8/19. 309 total fatalities reported that day, which was a drop of 4.6% Week over Week. 46 Total dates revised. 70 fatalities over 3 weeks old. A bunch of work in the first two weeks of July. A May fatality and 2 in June. Geez.
Here is the Date of Fatality report for 8/20. 234 total fatalities reported that day, which was a drop of 8.2% Week over Week. 42 Total dates revised. 55 fatalities over 3 weeks old. Best thing I can say about this report is the earliest date revised is July 6.
