Here's an important quote from [Gaeta], SSCI, 5, pdf 882 that credibility of sources is fundamental to counterintel investigation, but not so much in criminal investigations where the lead is what matters. This distinction relentlessly obfuscated by everyone else.
/ if Crossfire Hurricane is to be evaluated as a counterintelligence operation, then, on day one, FBI needed to evaluate credibility of Danchenko and his sub-sources e.g. Vorontsov
/ on the date that Senate SSCI released its volume 5, identity of Steele's Primary Sub-Sources and his six supposed sub-sources had all been identified publicly. SSCI report was already obsolete.
/ worse, the inability of SSCI to identify Steele's sub-sources, despite years of supposed research, shows incompetence or intentional obfuscation or a combination of both.
/ SSCI recalls following important conclusion from Iraq WMD intel fiasco: "intelligence analysts and consumers of intelligence need to know key details about a source, such as access to information, reporting history, motivation for providing information, if not their identity"
/ yet SSCI failed to observe total disregard for this principle in respect to Steele dossier. Consumers of intel either knew nothing about sub-sources in chain of custody and failed to inquire or were intentionally deceived by Steele and/or FBI.
/ a fundamental deception by Steele and later FBI (as I've mentioned previously) was that the Primary Sub-Source was "Russian-based" and in imminent danger if identity revealed, when in fact he was former Brookings employee living in northern Virginia.
