Thread: Neolithic black ceramic statuette, c. 20 cm, mid 5th millennium BC, found in 2006 in a female burial in Vicofertile, Parma, Italy. Currently in the National Archaeological Museum of Parma.
The statuette was placed next to the deceased's face, lying on her left forearm.
The burial belongs to the Square Mouthed Vases culture, which is called so because these guys liked square mouthed vases :) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Square_Mo…
They also liked spirals...And this particular one found on one of their vessels is very very very very...very interesting...What do you think, why?
This particular spiral, I think, can help us understand the meaning of all those bronze age spirals found everywhere, whose meaning has eluded us, so far :)
Ok here we go. The spirals when found with other symbols are found with solar symbols: suns, swastikas, birds, trees of life...So I suspected that they do represent something related to the sun, but wasn't sure...
Maybe they were just interesting, easy to draw and make decorative twirls??? Maybe they were symbols of eternity, as some say, although I always thought that a circle is a much better symbol of eternity as it has no beginning and no end, whereas spirals do have both...
Maybe they were just depictions of hallucinations induced by mushrooms? But that opens the question of all the spirals depicted together with other symbols, like swastikas, suns, birds, trees of life. Even in areas where we don't have recorded mushroom use...Like the Balkans...
The movement from the centre of the spiral along the spiral depicts expansion, growth, strengthening. And the movement in the opposite direction depicts contraction, withering, weakening...
What could it be that behaves like this? In comes this Italian neolithic spiky spiral. I think that these are not spikes, but sun rays...Which would then mean that the spirals depict the sun, more precisely, the heat of the sun...
In Europe, the coldest part of the year is end of winter, beginning of spring. The sun's heat then gets stronger and stronger until it reaches the hottest part of the year, end of summer beginning of autumn. After that the sun's heat gets weaker and weaker until...
This has direct effect on life which grows (expands) and withers (contracts) following the same cycle. And this expansion and contraction of both sun's heat and life has beginning and end but the oscillatory process of expansion and contraction is never ending...
Anyway this is just my opinion...There is no way I can prove this (yet) :)

By the way, Taoist Yin-Yang symbol describes this same oscillatory process in nature oldeuropeanculture.blogspot.com/2018/02/yin-an…

And so does the Fibonacci sequence, which is at the root of Taoism oldeuropeanculture.blogspot.com/2018/02/fibona…
