Dabholkar led the Maharashtra Andhashraddha Nirmoolan Samiti till his murder in 2013 and campaigned against miracle cures, unquestioning belief, caste oppression and irrationality.

He saw scientific temper and rationality as tools in the struggle for social justice.

Almost all of #Dabholkar's speeches and books were in Marathi, but some of them are now available in English, eg "The Case for Reason".

"Scientific Temper" is in itself an amazing concept, discussed first by Nehru in his book 'Discovery of India'. It has since been introduced in the Directive Principles of our Constitution as well.

It is VERY dangerous to look at the Sun directly using telescope binoculars or naked eyes. Looking at Sun's image projected onto a sheet of paper by a telescope is safe. There r a few public events by science centres etc in Africa where u can see #ToM2019 safely (pic @samyukta_m)
