HI YALL!

Here's a thread of some really great rap records that many may have forgotten or maybe some never heard in the first place.

Let's start with Latee from NJ / Flavor Unit. "No Tricks" was always one of my favorite tunes.

Next is Philly's Robbie B & DJ Jazz. Jazz was my homeboy and put me up on a lot of the tenants of the record digging game. This one is "From The Heart Of South Philly"

Let's stay in Philly for a minute. This is Jewel T "Ride The Crossfade" which was a big record here and also is kinda like a photo-LL flow with the gogo rhythm. Big record, Philly heads know the time.

One of my favorite records of that era was Don Juan "Strapped" also a big Philly record. Dude def had his Rakim flow too and I can probably still rap this entire record by heart.

Speaking of "Rakim flow" I always liked this song by MC Rell & The Houserockers but also the video ALWAYS bugged me out. It's a trip!

Around that same era was Serious Lee Fine with the P-Funk jam "Nothing Can Stop Us" which I think they had something to do with Jam Master Jay. This song was a big KRUSH VIDEO song on that show.

Anyone remember KRUSH VIDEO with Mike Elliott? That show was my jam.
Another song that was big on KRUSH VIDEO was Kings Of Swing "Nod Your Head To This" super fucking funky and also their DJ was @DjCocoaChanelle so MASSIVE SALUTE to her. Loved this song when it came out.

Okay yeah there's MORE. Remember Cookie Crew "Born This Way" this was the JAM. Video is hype AF too.

Another in this lane was Phalon "Dance Floor Of Life" - Phalon changed his name to be known as Jazze Pha later on. The LP mix ain't on YouTube but this cool mix is I like it!

Of course everyone should know Freshco & Miz "We Don't Play" which is a PHILLY CLASSIC. Shout out to my homeboy DJ Miz salute my G

Huge record here Def Jef "Black To The Future" man this is my joint. I can listen to this all day and this song aged wonderfully.

For some reason Def Jef always gave me a vibe reminding me of Divine Styler. "Ain't Sayin' Nothin'" was my JAM this song still goes for the right crowd.

Divine Styler was always my vibe for real kinda like pre-Pharcyde vibes!
Let's stay in the 80s for a second most people know "Do It To The Crowd" but "For Those Who Like To Groove" by Twin Hype was my shit. Shout to DJ King Shameek & all of NJ!

Did I mention Nicky Rap & Scratch "I Go Rambo" cause that was a BIG record and I kinda always wanna "go Rambo" in fact I am going Rambo right now. Shout to @DjMightyMi too I know he loves this record.

I'm in the 90s now (read that in your Funk Flex internal voice) haha
Huge record here on G-Street I think, Mysterme & DJ 20/20 with "Unsolved Mysterme" such a dope tune. Also shout out to the @LordFinesseDITC sample on this too!

I always associate that record with Wascals "Hard Rhymes" I think I got these both as promos at the same time I know @questlove fucks with this record the beat is HARD.

This WHOLE ALBUM was banging. Da King And I. I'm choosing the title cut "Let's Take A Trip" the song goes hard but all their stuff does. MC Izzy Ice, right?

Speaking on lesser known groups with slamming albums Hard Knocks on Wild Pitch their whole album was DOPE. Storytelling raps. Forget the name of the album though it had heat.

Yo, I just called something "slamming" hahah...
Another JOINT from that same time this beat is CRAZY and of course they were down with Black Sheep who were kind my fave at the time. This video is also pretty cool!

Since I mentioned Black Sheep this 12" cut was a banger and a lot of people slept on this. Also Dres one of the best MCs of that era easy peasy. Also first time I heard the Lou Donaldson flip was this one I think.

I'm probably making this thread cause of Dante's "Trends Of Culture" tweet last night haha... But Trends Of Culture STILL bangs OFF & ON hahah
Another joint which was my JOINT. Minnesota killed that Donny Hathaway sample and Biggie RIPPED THIS. I have a white table test pressing of this song too that may be worth some $$

I do!!
Also check this out haha @eliesco
OKAY THAT IS IT FOR ME FOR TODAY! FUCKING YES RAP MUSIC
Wait one more I never heard this one but YouTube autoplay algorithms served this up for me this joint is dope. Pudgee Tha Phat Bastard too. Love this song and I never heard it before. Pretty hot.

OKAY THAT IS NOW IT FOR ME FOR TODAY. HAVE A GREAT ONE MY FRIENDS!
