Story time from the book:

Working in sports books for two decades has been an amazing experience.

One of the true joys of the job has been meeting some of the most interesting people in the world. No, I haven’t met that guy yet, I don’t think he likes sports...

But on..

both sides of the counter, it’s the people that make this thing what it is and why it’s so interesting.

Yes, it’s about the numbers, the bets & winning and losing. The money keeps score, and it’s real.

Everyone has an opinion, and nowadays, for better or for worse...

Thanks to social media, everyone has a platform to unleash that opinion...

I only do the Twitter myself (for now), because the Consig kids say I’m not ready for the Gram and I’m too old for the Tik Tok...

I disagree and they laid the no price against me...it’s a typical...

discussion in the Consig household, one man swimming alone in an ocean of estrogen everyday...

I’m a girldad x3 and I haven’t gotten in a word in edgewise for a long dame time...

So, I did what all the cool kids are doing and started doing a podcast...

Apparently, we were...

way ahead of the curve with this idea😂😂😂

When my guys AB and D Griff came to me and said, “Big Dave, we are gonna do a podcast. Vegas sportsbook guys talking...”

I’M IN!!

I don’t give a shit what we talk about or who listens...I’m going to talk about sports and bets...

with my boys...yep, sign me up...

That was 2017. Once or twice a week, we would meet up or call each other and talk about numbers, spreads, teams, coaches and who knows what else.

Not many knew about it and even fewer listened. But, man, was it fun.

It really didn’t matter..

to us. We just kept showing up.

D Griff moved to LA, and AB and I needed a third guy because well, in our business, nobody likes a push...

First time I met Mo, he was sweating a college basketball first half...

Went a little something like this...

“Yeah, nice to meet you. The cast will be cool. Wait, hold on, did they just foul him??? That is some bullshit!! Oh, yeah, what night are we gonna record?”

You had me hello, Mo, you had me at hello...

And so the second season of the Cash Considerations podcast began...

More people started listening...people started following along on Twitter...and by more, I mean more than our friends and family...

Listeners from all over the United States and even other countries came for the takes and stayed for the laughs...

Guys talking betting and...

people want to listen...Vegas guys who work in books talking it is unique...

Everyone in the business is searching for value all the time. Even our little show had value.

Move on to 2019. AB says I gotta guy. Music to my ears.

That is the way the original Consig did it...

And it’s the only way I know. My dad was the people’s Consig, and I’m walking that path everyday.

So, I meet Howard. And he becomes forever known to me as HB. Cause if you become one of “my guys” I call you anything but the name your mama gave you.

HB is the managing editor...

of the Gaming Today, one of the oldest gambling publications in the free world. And HB says, “yeah, we are going to sponsor the show.”

Ho-leee shit! There goes the neighborhood. GT buys microphones, a board and gives us a studio to record in.

Amazing, right? One problem...

who the hell is going to run all this shit?

Can’t be me, I just started changing lightbulbs a couple years ago. AB is busy watching fights and Mo is busy chasing life.

Big Dave, meet Reynolds. He is the producer. He used to work at radio stations, and he knows his shit..

Damn glad to meet you sir. What’s your name again?

“It’s Sean, but I go by Reynolds.”

Usually, I don’t abide by self proclaimed nicknames, and I go out of my way to not say them, just to see how the person reacts. You know, just because...

But this dude was different.,

Plus, he knew his shit, didn’t take ours and made us all look better..

Reynolds it is...

And we started doing a show.

Reynolds made sure we talked into the microphones and didn’t bang the table. HB did funny drop in segments. Mo was late every week for months...

got in WNBA takes as only he could and brought energy that you can’t teach. AB and his perfect beard brought the stoicism, cynicism and wisdom of a guy that has seen too much and isn’t afraid to say it.

Me, I talk. I ask questions, present an argument, listen and then...

tell you if I agree or disagree, whether you want to hear it or not.

Sounds a lot like a lawyer, but I couldn’t afford law school. Plus, the jokes would have bothered me. Think my Cousin Vinny. That’s me and Mrs Consig. But I digress...

Back to the show. We got..

this thing. We got three Vegas sportsbook guys from three generations talking into microphones, a guy footing the bill and looking for sponsorships while trying to run a paper, and a producer who listens, edits and keeps us on the rails when it’s headed for a derailment...

It could have gone so many ways.

The yes price was a dog boys, but we are all on it.

In a year doing the show, I’ve been lucky to meet so many people who
said yes to come on.

The list of guests and past episodes is good, but the connections I’ve made with people is...

in a word, tremendous.

Tree-men-dous!!!

Sports, books, money and bets is the language that we all speak, albeit in many dialects.

It’s the people for me. People for the limit.

I just want to thank all the people who have been on the show the past year. And...

is a fascinating place, but it’s the people that make it special.
