Storytime from the book:

With all the expansion of sports wagering in the US, there has also been an expansion of sports wagering content.

Shows, podcasts, websites, etc. Hot takes, lead pipe locks and reverse line movement breakdowns.

It’s amazing to me because...
I’ve been having these conversations my whole life.

I watched the Saturday morning shows as a kid when the guys would tell you only they “had the info” on this game. They said they “had the winner.”

Sometimes, they were really convincing. All you had to do was call an 800...
number and they would tell you.

Today, you can still do that. Or, you can get picks texted to you, emailed to you, or you sign in and get them.

This is all in addition to the shows and podcasts that air every week.

I am doing some of those shows myself. It has been...
a crazy couple months, and football season lends itself perfectly for all of it.

Every week, @PercentBerg @HeedTheseTakes and I do a podcast called GT’s Cash Considerations @GTCashConsider

It’s three Las Vegas guys who work in Las Vegas sports books. We bring a guest in...
for an interview, then we look at the games of the week.

I’d like to think we give you some decent information in an entertaining way. I know you will laugh a few times every week as well.

One thing I know we won’t give you is the key to the treasure chest of winning plays...
No matter what, nobody has that key. And, if they did, they sure as hell are not telling anybody about it.

We have been able to build up a nice audience with the show, and we are grateful. It continues to grow, and we continue to get other opportunities.

With this, we get..
to appear on other shows like @YouBetterYouBet or @PushingTheOdds

Or write columns @GamingTodayNews or @sports_handle

And we get to communicate with people who listen.

Like Michele, a faithful listener of the @GTCashConsider show.

Michele is a principal at a school..
outside of LA. She is in an NFL pick em contest in which she has to pick the winner of every game straight up.

She listens to the show every week, and she uses the info she hears to make her picks.

Coincidentally, she is having her best season picking games, which may/may not..
be correlated.

Last week, she did not listen to the show, and she had her worst week.

Michele is very conscious of not being a PITA (Pain In The Ass) but she messages me every week with reviews, suggestions and opinions.

This week, the first message I get is..
“My picks were terrible last week.”

“I can’t believe the Vikings lost to the Chiefs.”

“What happened to the Packers? You guys were right about them and the Browns.”

“Why did Mo and AB like the Jets?”

“You got lucky with the Steelers.”

I respond with “glad you liked...
the show.”

She answers “I didn’t listen before. I did after the games. Bad move.”

Smh.

An hour later, I get another message from Michele.

“I hate your take on the Charger game.”

Pause. Lightbulb goes off. I answer.

“You have the Raiders, don’t ya?”

She goes 👍 and..
Comes with “you said it’s the last home prime time game ever in Oakland, they are playing good, way better than expected, yet you like the Chargers?”

“Yes.”

I see the ...

Her fingers must have been flying.

“I don’t care, I’m picking the Raiders. AB liked the Raiders so..
that’s good enough for me. You know I still love you and the show, but I’m sticking with the Raiders.”

Ok.

“You’re not mad, are you?”

Nope.

“Ok, good. I’ll talk to you later about the rest of the picks. Go Raiders.”

Part of me is rooting for her to be right. She will..
message me before the clock says 0:00 if so. Another part of me says “go, Cha-jers, go”.

What do you think? Does the principal get there with Oakland or will she be known as Michele the Mush going forward?
