deploying on Friday is not inherently shady, and SREs who treat it that way are a dwindling minority.

this is the technical equivalent of stringing up air fresheners bc your sewer sprang a leak. it might help, in the short term. it fixes nothing and is not a thing to be proud of
if you're afraid of Friday deploys, maybe this is a good policy. it's a good policy for lots of teams. but why?

- takes all day to deploy
- rollbacks are common and painful
- you lack real visibility or confidence
- you typically detect problems only days later via user reports
if any of these are true, your response should not be "oh okay so we won't deploy on fridays". all of these things are HURTING PEOPLE all god damn week long, so you should FIX THEM.

these are smells, and they will lead you straight to the shit you must clean up.
