100% do not trust that anybody who says "You can tell this guy who did terrible things as a kid has learned his lesson because he supports M4A, which is a compassionate and thus inherently non-monstrous position" is not a complete monster themselves.

and also the world is full of people who want good and decent and commendable things in the abstract but still mistreat specific people horribly in the concrete. And yes, many of them *do* think their politics elevates them above their actual thoughts and actions.
I've said this before and will say it again, but part of genuine contrition and repentance is understanding that there are people who won't trust you, who may never trust you again. That's not a punishment. It's consequences.
And I really don't think it's some kind of hairshirt scarlet letter type punishment to say no, you probably shouldn't expect to get elected off a STUNT CANDIDACY campaign as a 19 year old when you were trolling girls towards death 5 years before.
