It’s just the very beginning of sharing some of the future thoughts & imaginations I have been researching for years but I can only hope that these explorations will find an audience & could help shift the mainstream Sci Fi imagery discourse at least a notch. @protopiafutures 2/

As I’ve said years ago with my criticism re the direction Hollywood version of GITS took: we cannot continue being limited by the same Sci Fi tropes that always centers straight cishet able-bodies white western male imagination. That bucket is exhausted. Next! @protopiafutures 3/

The idea that all stories have been told is such a lazy fallacy! MOST stories in fact remain UNTOLD, esp in the future tense. My attempt with @protopiafutures is to expand this field just a bit & as much as I can open it up for others so we could iterate TOGETHER 4/

I think the key think for Sci Fi to be the transformative genre that it is meant to be depends on us moving away from regurgitation of the 80s future visions & even beyond reflecting contemporary culture: it is about portraying the emergence of new, engaged subcultures 5/

More than anything, what Sci Fi currently needs, is moving away from the main driver of the story being violence to it being CARE. Community, intimacy, #radicaltenderness in the future tense— navigating complex, broken world & its exploitative, unjust systems. @protopiafutures 6/
