New things have to be learned as you go from early stage to growth stage and the journey is a long one. @gvravishankar talks to #Surge03 #startups about each stage of a company’s growth and how to keep learning and evolving as a founder. #getreadytosurge Thread 👇
/ In early stage co's it’s all about speed - but when scaling it’s all about becoming efficient. Don’t attempt to run a marathon the same way you’d attempt a sprint. To endure and be a long-term business, you have to make the shift and go from speed to efficiency.
/ The only thing you should be thinking about is sustainably scaling your economics long-term. Not – how do I get to series A,B,C. Do you have PMF and at a sustainable economic level?
/ The single biggest constraint as you grow, is time. If you can’t be smart with your processes, you will be the biggest bottleneck for your company. Biggest flaw – a founder needing control over everything. When @ growth stage, hire for specialisation over generalisation.
/ There are a few ways to succeed and about 10,000 ways to fail. Many companies fail because they don’t listen to the market around them and don’t have elasticity to adapt to the changes happening around them.
/ Building a company cannot mean that every moment is one of excitement. It’s not sustainable. Have moments of intense execution, but also be consistent. Repeat processes every day. It’s like climbing mountains – long periods of repetition with few moments of ‘the rush’.
