The Jagannath Temple Kitchen has the capacity to cook for a lakh of devotees every single day. It is considered as one of the largest kitchen in the world.
56 food item (Mahaprasada) r cooked in earthen pot, using the firewood as fuel.5 Earthen pot are placed one on top of other
Surprisingly the one on the top cooked first .The kitchen is 150 ft long and,100 ft wide. It consist of 32 rooms with 250 earthen ovens.

The fire of the kitchen is known as Vaishnavangi & it is never extinguish .
It is believed that Maa Mahalakshmi cooks in the kitchen herself.
The prasada cooked here is first offered to Shree Jagannath then to Maa Vimala inside the temple premises which later known as "Mahaprasada".
