COVID cases per day last 2 months up to Tuesday
Tower Hamlets - blue line
Hackney (our neighbour) - orange line
As you can see increasing levels of cases each day, fewer days with zero cases + problems in Hackney with whom we share border

Red line - trend line (linear)
Shows COVID cases have been rising since beginning of May even if at a low level
Do not know what R rate is

Nobody has died from COVID in Tower Hamlets since the end of June (numbers of deaths per week in TH)

So continue to maintain precautions (masks, social distancing, hand washing etc), do not relax now especially as unlocking proceeds & schools re-open, offices refill (maybe?)
Other countries show the dangers of 2nd wave & we cannot afford economic damage of it happening here

The Isle of Dogs & South Poplar may have to deliver 1.04% of all new housing in England based on a new algorithm
Tower Hamlets 1.82%
For the last 16 years the Mayor of London has set housing targets for each London Borough (& also the Isle of Dogs) in the London Plan

So in current London Plan Tower Hamlets has highest housing targets 3,473 a year
In new draft London Plan TH also has highest again 3,511 a year (incl IoD 29,000 over life of plan)
But note London Legacy Development Corp has high targets incl parts of TH, Newham, Hackney

The Mayor of Tower Hamlets then sets housing targets for each part of TH in his Local Plan
So for example in the new TH Local Plan voted on by Cllrs in January, 57% of all new housing in TH has to go in about 1/5 of the Borough, the Isle of Dogs & South Poplar

Oktoberfest Millwall Park update (it really is dead)
TH Council were not going to allow Oktoberfest in Millwall Park this year due to damage caused to the pitches last year (this was before COVID anyway).
But the Police wanted to make sure and on 1st September the Councils

licensing committee will hear an application from the Police to revoke their license
The Police report justifying this is pretty graphic
Police report implies it is not just a management issue but that all such events not be allowed

TfL will provide 200 extra buses on school & high density routes, funded by government, more information next week

Nationally, six deaths from COVID in children aged 14 years and below, none in TH
Children at less risk of COVID
Risks from loss of education (6 months now), mental health, parents working & educating at same time, abuse (which schools are trained to spot) etc etc
all mean

provides a lot more information about how that will be done now & what new rules will be
So far no infections in TH school, only 2 siblings infected at home, removed from school as soon as tested negative
