If voters prefer Biden on safety, I’m not sure how the unrest in Wisconsin is supposed to be good for Trump. The “law and order!” messaging has been a flop all summer.
Per usual, the best strategy for Biden (and really any candidate who is up by 9 points) is probably to lay low and not doing anything the media can make a controversy out of
This all really underscores a fundamental problem for Trump. If you’re campaigning against the conditions of the country under your own presidency, you’re going to have a bad time
This isn’t to say Trump is destined to lose (our model gives him roughly a 1-in-8 chance), or that he won’t get a convention bounce (he probably will get a small one) or whatever — it just seems like important overall context that Biden is winning on all the important issues.
