My week in 13 tweets

My week began in earnest with my participation at the One-Day Retreat for Zonal Coordinators as well as Heads of Territorial & Operations Offices of @nemanigeria, with the theme: "Effective & Efficient Service Delivery at Operational Level"
I assured the participants that as the Minister with oversight for @nemanigeria I will continue to lead @FMHDSD towards the development of the appropriate initiatives for effective & efficient service delivery at all levels of management, especially at the operational levels.
On August 24, HE President @MBuhari approved the composition of the National Commission for People with Disabilities. It was a proud moment for me because this is a vulnerable population that is close to my heart who have now been entrusted with their own welfare.
Three months ago, I had noted that " @FMHDSD is seriously concerned about the issue of people with disabilities and will do all in its powers to give them the best that they deserve." I am happy that HE President @MBuhari's decision is aligned with our vision.
I was in Adamawa state to, on behalf of HE President @MBuhari hand over palliatives including 2,973 tonnes of food items from the National Strategic Grain reserves to cater for 59,338 vulnerable households in Adamawa State.
It was also an opportunity to distribute fertilisers and sundry farm inputs to farmers in Adamawa State who were affected by flooding in 2018. The support was implemented under the Emergency Agricultural Intervention Programme which was approved by HE @MBuhari in 2019
The programme commenced with verification of 20,000 affected farmers who subsequently received farm inputs. Other states have been impacted. I was accompanied by DG @nemanigeria AVM Muhammed Muhammed rtd who joined me on a courtesy call on HE Governor @AhmaduFintiri
I used the occasion of the visit to draw HE @AhmaduFintiri's attention to the early warning signals evolved from the 2020 Seasonal Rainfall Prediction and the Annual Flood Outlook.
Adamawa state has been flagged & the highly probable flood risk areas are Yola North, Yola South & Lamurde LGAs while the probable flood risk areas are Numan, Guyuk & Demsa LGAs. I stressed that taking proactive & mitigating action will save lives & reduce the humanitarian toll.
Rounding off my visit, I spent some time at the North-East Humanitarian Innovation Hub where I also attended the graduation ceremony of some of the students @Northeast_iHub. It was an insightful visit.
I was also in Gombe state to, on behalf of HE President @MBuhari, present assorted grains from the Strategic Grain Reserves & approved as palliatives for vulnerable persons in Gombe State. Accompanied by DG @nemanigeria we paid a courtesy visit on HE @GovernorInuwa
During that visit, I shared our early warning insights with HE @GovernorInuwa and impressed on the state govt the need to put in place flood prevention and mitigation measures based on predictions from the 2020 Seasonal Rainfall Prediction and Annual Flood Outlook.
During the week, approval was given for the payment of outstanding stipends for the exited N-Power Batches A and B beneficiaries. Details would be announced in due course even as we continue the review of Batch C applications.

Have a good week
