"Always use semantic markers to connect the ideas in your writing piece."

Semantic markers focus on meanings while transition words focus on new ideas. Some transition words are also semantic markers.

1. Markers that show order -
 firstly, secondly, finally , etc.

2. Markers that show examples or illustrations - for instance, for example , etc.

3. Markers that introduce a counter idea - but, nevertheless, yet, although, by contrast , etc.

8. Markers that show relative importance - next crucial point is, it is important to note, etc.
