Four more Iowans have died from COVID-19, pushing Iowa's total to 1,125 since first death on March 24.

Deaths were reported in Black Hawk, Polk, Wapello, and Winneshiek Counties.

Please mourn the dead, support loved ones and caregivers, and help stop the spread!

On a day when four more Iowans are reported dead from COVID-19, the state is also reporting hospitalizations down 1 to 310, including 87 in intensive care units.

There were 62 new admissions to Iowa hospitals for COVID-19 in the last 24 hours.

The state is also reporting 740 new cases, pushing Iowa's total to 66,137.

The 740 new cases were confirmed on 5,670 new tests being reported, for a rate showing COVID-19 of 13.1%.

As of yesterday, Iowa was reporting 4,538 kids under age 18 had tested positive for the disease.

The 77 counties where Gov. Reynolds first loosened Iowa's limited restrictions May 1 without an alternative safety plan were up 392 new cases for total of 24,182.

They've now suffered 352 deaths from COVID-19.

On April 30, they had 559 total cases and 11 deaths.

Overall, 53 of the 77 counties had new cases reported.

No new cases: Adams, Cass, Cedar, Fremont, Guthrie, Hardin, Jefferson, Kossuth, Lucas, Monona, Osceola, Pocahontas, Ringgold, Taylor, Union, Wayne, Worth, and Wright, while Adair, Audubon, Calhoun, Clarke, Hancock, and Humboldt were each adjusted down one.

Range of tests: Ringgold was up 0 on 1 test while Union up 0 on 39 tests – the best day in the state!

Too many cases in too many counties.

Statewide, Iowa is showing 5 more inmates (up from 653 to 658) and 5 more staff (up from 111 to 116) who have tested positive in last two days (Aug. 30-Sept. 1).

We must do better to protect staff and inmates from coronavirus.

Some good signs, like Linn (1.1%), but must do more to stop spread and get new cases down to 0.

Iowa is now reporting 4,604 kids under age 18 have tested positive, up 66 from yesterday.

The number of Iowa kids under age 18 who have now tested positive for coronavirus is up 789 since August 22, or 20.7%, from 3,815 to 4,604.
