1. “Hey everyone, I am the new “baby anaesthetic trainee!” (I actually said this!)
2. When you realise that actually, you don’t know anything about any of the drugs, doses, procedures... and basically, you are a med student again!
3. When you have to cannulate all your patients with the consultant standing over you and your success rate is not so hot!
4. When you intubate your first patient.
5. When you intubate your second patient ...in the oesphagus
6. When you successfully place your first central line
7. When you are left to give your first solo anaesthetic
8. When the consultant realises that you are experienced enough for them to pop out of theatre for a “Short while”
9. What happens when the consultant finds out that you have written the first time on the anaesthetic chart at a time other than :00 or :30 mins past the hour
10. When you are performing a patient pre-assessment and you don’t know if it is a Spinal/GA/LMA/ETT kinda case
11. Deciding between Spinal or GA for the patient with fractured neck of femur
12. When the consultant tries to explain the shunt equation to you/when you are asked to draw the cardiac cycle with all the squiggly lines
13. Your entrance to the Emergency Department when you here “Anaesthetist required in Resus please”
14. When you realise that the operating department practitioner/anaesthetic nurse has always got your back 💪🏽💪🏽
15. That feeling when you pass your primary FRCA and realise that you have picked the best specialty ever! #Anaesthesia
