LOOK AT THIS 🤬🤬🤬

"He found that there was collusion by the family, who had "improper motives" and wanted to stop her from going to the authorities."

here, the photos that should actually be in the news.

Liew Mun Leong is also Chairman of Surbana Jurong btw!!

His son though... In another case, a judge found Karl Liew to be “a dishonest and evasive witness, whose evidence was riddled with inconsistencies.”
like, what kind of faith must you have in the country's justice system and worker protection laws to be literally one degree from the Minister for Manpower and still try to frame your employee?
if an *NGO* had not found 15k (that’s ~2 years salary for her!) to pay her bail she would have spent almost FOUR YEARS in prison

they did, and even then, that’s 4 years she’s spent not allowed to work in Singapore

i just need to say this again

in ‘07, he received a 20million BONUS.

assuming he lives off his salary, this BONUS ALONE could have bought him a veritable slave army of 700 maids for 4 years.

instead, he forced one person to work 3 jobs and framed her bc she wanted to complain.
Liew Mun Leong said that he filed the police report to “fulfill his duty as a citizen”.

read this to understand how people learn to “say the right things” to manipulate systems for their own motives.

rmb that police interviewed her w/o an interpreter!

“There is no motivation for a person like me to go against a maid," said Mr Liew. "I am trying to avoid (her coming back to steal things) for the good of Singapore."

for the good of Singapore, he says! 👏👏👏

i don't even know what to link to here.

how different classes have different understandings of laws?

Woffles Wu was fined $1000 for this.

the things people who abuse the already-marginalised expect you to believe?
click through for all of Kokila's live tweets from HOME's press conference but i just want to point this out-

i think in some ways, for people with ample resources and lawyers on-call, the courts are really just a playground.
sure, following rules suck. we all navigate it differently *and* sometimes we face different consequences.

sometimes it's pragmatic, sometimes it's a crime.

really, what is sending your domestic worker to multiple locations but 'overcoming bureaucracy'? it's just pragmatic! 💁‍♀️
the judgement is now available on the supreme court website.
