2. Mr. Paulson, the leader sources say was most responsible for facilitating Cameron Ortis's rapid rise, is the first RCMP figure to answer questions about whether the RCMP could have prevented incredible damage to Canada's standing with allies.
3. The harassment complaints against Ortis are central to Ortis's alleged criminal scheme, according to the new civil claim, because Ortis was allegedly targeting the same employees whose top secret intelligence reports, he allegedly sold or offered to Canada's enemies.
4. A source said, before this civil claim was filed, that Ortis was called 'The Prince' in his elite intelligence unit, because his staff recognized his alleged Machiavellian scheming. And early in his career Ortis had "the ear" of Bob Paulson on extremely sensitive national sec
5. files, Global News sources said. According to sources with knowledge, these are the types of files that include criminals and hostile states that endanger the Five Eyes.
6. The lawyer for Mr. Ortis didn't respond to request for comments and questions on this story. And Mr. Paulson forcefully denied protecting Mr. Ortis in any way, or even receiving complaints about Ortis, while Paulson was RCMP commissioner.
7. “I have not seen the civil claim, I didn’t understand that I was named in it, but no matter, your sources are wrong,” Paulson wrote to Global News.
8. Another email response from Paulson to a Global News reporter reiterated “my position and the facts seem to demonstrate that these complaints (about Ortis) … all took place after I left.”
9. Paulson also objected to allegations made by sources and in the civil claim that he and other leaders were protective of Ortis, and as a result, they failed to identify and prevent “Ortis’s criminal activites and an earlier stage.”
10. “Of course I did not. I say it is irresponsible and immoral to ask a question like that and include it in a story thereby suggesting it, without some basis or some evidence,” Paulson said.

Breaking: CSIS warned Health Canada of "insider threat" from Wuhan Institute-tied scientist Dr. Qiu Seven Months Before Lethal Ebola Shipped to China thebureau.news/p/breaking-csi…
As early as 2013, Keding Cheng filled out an application for the PRC’s “Science and Technology Innovation Talent Program of Henan Province,” requiring applicants to “passionately love the socialist motherland [PRC]” and maintain Chinese citizenship.
By October 2017, CSIS’s investigation found, Qiu had discussed employment under the Thousand Talents Program with leaders at the Wuhan Institute of Virology, "who believed [Qiu's] application was very important for WIV's future development," according to the report. Her January 2018 application to WIV indicated that she had been working with the Beijing Institute of Biotechnology, part of the Academy of Military Medical Sciences (AMMS), since April 2016.
Nor did “Special Rapporteur” David Johnston value this Privy Council Office “Special Report” or the 100 underlying CSIS reports and other crucial Canadian government records that I accessed.
Why?
Canadians must come to their own judgments.
In Johnston’s case the question could be is there a conflicting relationship with Beijing’s United Front?
I was hearing from government investigators that Canada’s elections are being undermined and Justin Trudeau’s party was especially implicated.
Part of my job was to learn whether it could be true that Trudeau’s government was ignoring serious foreign threats to our democracy and Chinese influence that touched his own office for electoral reasons.
Things that were known but powerfully reinforced this week. India is certainly interfering in Canada but it’s not even close, Beijing’s interference in Canadian elections and evident connectivity to the LPC especially, is off the scales. Russia is a fairly minimal player here.
Canada has a problem (as I’ve been told for years) that bureaucratic heads of CSIS and RCMP are in danger of being under the thumb of the powerful ministers and especially the PM and his office. Think about it. Intelligence or law enforcement could be asked or better yet,
suggested; hinted at, or simply understand for Ottawa career reasons, what threats to focus on and what threats to ignore. (Hey can you juice up a threat timeline on the protests in Ottawa a bit, maybe there is a Russian funder or something we can put in that timeline?; … Hey
1. Sometimes it seems the idea isn’t fully getting through what United Front community groups in Canada are and why they surround party and government leaders. One can read the official documents of these groups online and understand they are literally Chinese Communist Party.
2. More to come on this and what should happen to leaders that knowingly accept Chinese Communist fundraising.
On to new stories, here is the bottom line on the Lab story and it’s important these days people don’t get confused with partisan debate, and that reporters accurately parse PMJT responses in coming days. 1. An infiltration of egregious and international significance occurred.
2. This was a People’s Liberation Army infiltration and espionage operation in a high security Canadian facility and Ottawa failed to stop it.
3. Justin Trudeau and his office covered the facts up but opposition parties forced at least basic disclosures showing Parliament worked
4. This is just one serious case in a much broader fact pattern for Canada that includes PRC election interference and police stations involving same PLA and civilian intelligence networks.
I’ll take you inside my reporting process a few years ago with the Health Canada Winnipeg Lab cover-up. Notice how the questions align with what the Trudeau government fought against ultimately disclosing in most cases.
Notice how Health Canada redacted who QIU met in China- indicating the Trudeau govt coverup that opposition MPs grouped together to roll back, resulting in disclosures that Qiu was funded by and meeting with her People’s Liberation Army benefactors in the UFWD 1000 Talents net
Notice how HC justifies QIU trip related to ‘bioterror’ defense “Qiu’s dedication has brought us one step closer to developing a treatment to protect the public’s health in the event of an outbreak”
No, Trudeau govt released this knowing Qiu could have been working on bioweapons
