Activists from Extinction Rebellion Glasgow are holding a protest at Newsprinters, Eurocentral in Holytown near Motherwell to disrupt the distribution of The Scottish Sun newspaper. 
The Murdoch-owned press are responsible for downplaying the catastrophic Australian bushfires in January, and promoting the fossil fuel industry in the US.

Susanna Hotham, 27, Extinction Rebellion Glasgow activist said:
"The Sun perpetuates a xenophobic, racist and divisive narrative to advance their own agenda, profiting off of climate denialism and failing to acknowledge the climate emergency.

The misinformation they spread has catastrophic effects for the communities affected by the rising temperatures, and cements the fate of the generations to come to live on an uninhabitable planet.”
Journalism has problems with classism and racism. Nearly half of UK national newspaper columnists graduated from Oxford or Cambridge and that 54% per cent of the nation's top 100 media professionals attended private schools (compared to around 7% of the population).
