Activists from Extinction Rebellion Glasgow are holding a protest at Newsprinters, Eurocentral in Holytown near Motherwell to disrupt the distribution of The Scottish Sun newspaper. The Murdoch-owned press are responsible for downplaying the catastrophic Australian bushfires in January, and promoting the fossil fuel industry in the US.
Refugees and migrants are also presented as a threat.

We are all seeing statements circling around like; “Coronavirus is dropping emissions”, “Mother Earth is cleansing” and “Humans are the virus”, in the mainstream media and in climate activist circles.

1/n We need to dig into what these ideas actually mean - and be clear that any claim that a global pandemic and loss of thousands of human lives is a *good* thing for the climate is far more dangerous than the virus itself.
