Pleased to meet with @cdube_sante, Quebec’s Minister of Health and Social Services, for the Ontario-Quebec Summit 2020. Together, we will promote health preparedness to keep the people of our two provinces healthy and safe. #ONQCSummit2020
With our provincial and territorial partners, Ontario continues to call on the federal government to increase the Canadian Health Transfer to ensure long-term, stable funding for the delivery of high-quality health care. #ONQCsummit2020
We are committed to strengthening programs for Ontarians who don’t currently have drug coverage and are looking to work with Quebec, provincial partners and the federal government to move forward on initiatives like a rare and orphan disease drug strategy. #ONQCsummit2020
As we continue to fight #COVID19, we will continue to share lessons learned and work with provincial and federal partners to prepare for a potential second wave. This includes increasing testing and lab capacity to ensure that anyone who needs a test can get one. #ONQCsummit2020

Ontario is reporting 76 cases of #COVID19. Due to an issue with iPHIS, updated numbers are not available from 11 PHUs. These 11 units reported a total of eight cases yesterday and while not a direct proxy for today it’s an indication of how many cases may be under-reported.
This glitch is another reminder of why it’s so important that we replace the outdated iPHIS with our custom-built #COVID19 system. We’re making great progress: in fact, all 11 impacted units are transitioning to the new system today, at which point 31 of 34 PHUs will be using it.
The 11 units not included in today's numbers are: Algoma, Brant County, Chatham-Kent, City of Hamilton, Niagara Region, Peterborough, Simcoe Muskoka District, Southwestern, Sudbury & Districts, Timiskaming and Windsor-Essex County.
After a full week of reporting fewer than 100 daily cases, today Ontario is reporting 115 cases of #COVID19. While a slight uptick and an end to our steak, we shouldn’t lose sight of the fact that thanks to your efforts the trend in the province remains downward.
Indeed, locally 28 of Ontario’s 34 public health units are still reporting five or fewer cases, with 18 of them reporting no new cases. Yesterday, the province processed 22,275 #COVID19 tests as we continue to lead the country in daily testing.
Windsor-Essex will join the rest of the province in Stage 3 as of Wednesday. This is an exciting step forward and one only made possible thanks to the hard work and diligence of all Ontarians to stop the spread – but we have to keep it up! news.ontario.ca/opo/en/2020/08…
Today, Ontario is reporting 116 cases of #COVID19, a 0.3% increase. Locally, 29 of the province’s 34 public health units are reporting five or fewer cases, with fully 21 of them reporting no new cases at all.
The number of #COVID19 patients receiving care in hospital has dropped significantly from the highs of over 1,000 reported in May. ICU admissions and vented patients have also seen a persistent decline since the peak of this pandemic.
Having seen a continued decline in the number of new #COVID19 cases as the province entered Stage 2, and with hospitalizations being at all-time lows, today we’re providing details about Stage 3 of our plan to continue the safe and gradual reopening the province.
