It has been a great afternoon recapping the outcomes of the First Ever Women in Manufacturing Research in Kenya #WIMKe
The #WIMReport launched earlier this month, provides viable solutions to the challenges facing Women in Manufacturing
Women face unique challenges that hinder them from entering the sector. This is why we continue to advocate for an inclusive manufacturing sector, through the establishment of policies that encourage women to be key players in value and supply chains - KAM CEO @PhyllisWakiaga
In a forum hosted by @ICRWAfrica to discuss the #WIMReport, KAM CEO @PhyllisWakiaga noted, 'Women are sidelined in the sector, with majority of industries being predominantly male-owned & staffed. Only 3 out of the 14 sectors have a female workforce of 40% & above.'
PS @IndustryKE, @DrFrancisOwino - Climate change affects all sectors of the economy. Industry relies on infrastructure & services, such as water, waste, energy & transport, & are vulnerable to disruptions caused by climate change.
PS @IndustryKE, @DrFrancisOwino - There is an emerging global consensus that the traditional linear manufacturing model is no longer sustainable. We need to collectively transition to the circular economy model.
PS @IndustryKE, @DrFrancisOwino - Planning for Green Growth & climate change adaptation & mitigation in the manufacturing sector needs to adopt a holistic, multi-sectoral approach.

KAM Head of Policy Research and Advocacy, @wanjohijb - To build the resilience for our export sector, we need to take advantage of the opportunities presented by low-hanging fruits in the economy and supply to the export markets.
KAM Head of Policy Research and Advocacy, @wanjohijb - To encourage SMEs to venture into the export markets, we should put in place capacity-building programmes that focus skills development, access to finance, governance & market access.
