🚨At 10:41AM ⚪️ Wiehle Train 606 reported to #WMATA smoke and flashing lights outbound of Rosslyn - #WMATA ROCC did not receive initial reports due to radio difficulties

Train 606 reported to #WMATA the tunnel side lights were flashing, with smoke and a burning odor originating from the 🔵 tracks departing Rosslyn heading towards Arlington Cemetery

At approximately 10:20-10:30A #WMATA ROCC began experiencing sporadic systemwide radio systems failures

12:39PM #WMATA Emergency Response Team has identified a burnt out third rail porcelain (older) insulator located approximately 100’ outbound of Rosslyn platform (C2 146.00) on the Blue line segment and is beginning the process of removing the insulator

Note: Back in Spring 2016 #WMATA GM ordered that ALL porcelain third rail insulators be replaced “within platform limits at underground stations” following the explosion of an insulator @ Fed Ctr SW ⬇️ - today there are still hundreds of porcelain insulators in tunnels/outside
