1. I have now a days been engaged with some projects on #Hindutva, #RSS and Hindu nationalism. Surprisingly, there seems great resemblence b/w @JIPOfficial and @RSSorg in respect of their org structure, methodology, politico-ideological evolution and workers' commitment.
2. Although a comparison leading to such resemblence might not be very likely for us but the fact is that ideology-based organizations always share some common grounds with one another, no matter how much contradictory their views r. Here r some common grounds b/w Jamaat and RSS.
3. Like JI, RSS also discourages the prominance of personalities over ideology. That is the reason there is no ancestry in the party leadership. No RSS chief had any blood relation with any previous chief. On the other hand, secular parties like Congress champion democracy but...
4. they can't afford to involve ordinary workers in the leadership lines. This is same as PPP in Pakistan.
5. The next commonality is the commitment of their workers. Despite dozens of setbacks in political and ideological spheres, the committed worker of JI and RSS has not gone in hands of other parties. This worker is true asset for them in the course of mobilization and agitation.
6. RSS, same as JI, has gone through a long process of political evolution. It has made a number of experiments to gain voters attention and then overturned them in case of failures. Bharatiya Jana Sangh was an experiment similar to JI's Islamic Front of 1993 election......
7.Interestingly,RSS leadership had to face similar allegation of having deviated from the right track. Criticism from the conservative lot of the party compelled leadership to give up support 4 BJS same as Jamaat overturned decision of contesting from Islamic Front's platform.
8. One contradiction in their political journey is that the experiments made by the RSS have gradually led the party to considerable weightage in the Indian politics while JI on the other hand has yet to look for an experiment which could lead it to the prominent position here.
9. In Jamaat circles, we often hear a term Ita'at e Nazm (Following the leaders' commandments). The final word is that of Amir and his Shura. Similar is case with RSS where the decision made by elders cannot be challenged.
10. In both the parties, there is a structural hierarchy and its not possible to surpass that structural hierarchy to reach a leading position. Thats why the new comers in both RSS and JI are not given very high ranks. Aged workers are often more influential than youngsters.
11. JI has a number of Biradar Tanzimaat i.e. different organs for every field of life including youth, students, lawyers, women, kids, farmers, etc. Similarly, RSS has Sangh Parivar which is the family of its organs working in different fields of the society.
12. This brief comparison leads us to the conclusion that ideology-based movements are always similar in their nature and functioning. You must be ready to learn the experiments of other counterparts whether you like their ideology or not.
