So ... Trump supporters ... not only did Donald Trump know from the beginning -- since January -- that the coronavirus was not just deadly but also airborne, he lied to you (non-believers don't listen to him. YOU do. And he endangered your lives deliberately. And there are tapes.
There are TAPES. He CALLED "Woodward and Bernstein" / Watergate Bob Woodward and TOLD him he was lying to you. "You just breathe the air and that's how it's passed," he told Woodward ... ON TAPE.
And then he went out there and said it was just a flu; he's mocked anyone who wore a mask to try and protect themselves, and holds rallies with you, and encouraged you to resist protecting yourselves with masks ... he literally endangered you ON PURPOSE. Again, there are TAPES.
The last trusted person connected in any way with this administration outside of The Faith, Anthony Fauci, clearly has no trust in Donald Trump's leadership. He knows Trump can't even pay attention in a meeting.
And then there is the mutual disrespect between Donald Trump and the very people who went to work for him, but who came to see him as dangerous and unfit for office. This includes "his generals" who Trump derides as "pu--ies," proving again that he doesn't respect the military.
Mattis, specifically, spelled out how dangerous he found Donald Trump to be. Trump's former DNI agrees.
I guess my question to Trump's remaining supporters is: at this point, what binds you to this man? It's you, primarily, whom he endangered, by lying to you about coronavirus and putting you in danger so that you could then put the rest of us in danger. Nearly 200,000 are dead.
He clearly has no respect for the lives of any Americans, including his own supporters. Is demographic panic and fear of a multicultural future THAT powerful? Because if so... well, wow. Michael Cohen says Trump ridicules his own Christian base. He lied about covid. What more??
Here's the full @washingtonpost piece. The only surprise in in it is that Trump still has the power to surprise any of us. washingtonpost.com/politics/bob-w…

The U.S. lost 360,000 Union soldiers, including 110,000 to combat and the rest to disease, fighting the slaver “confederacy.” 1 in 7 were from New York.

116,516 soldiers died in World War I, including 63,114 who fell to the 1918 influenza pandemic and 53,402 in combat.

Nearly 235,000 were killed fighting the Nazis and their fascist “Axis,” with 300,000 U.S. troops dying in total. washingtonpost.com/news/politics/…
We’re now talking about that level of death in America due to the coronavirus pandemic and the utter failure of the Trump administration to handle it; reminiscent of Woodrow Wilson in 1917 but worse because science is so much more advanced. But the death level is on a 1918 track.

And here it is. This is why he trashes the idea of mail-in ballots and is trying to kill the @USPS. Watch him declare victory on Election night and try to stop the clock there by challenging the validity of the outstanding absentee vote (which could include military ballots).
The question then shifts to the media and the Biden campaign: how we and they — and elected officials in both parties and the courts — respond to that clear attempt to steal an election, will be a foundational question for democracy.
Many of us have long assumed this election will end up in court. This gives us a good idea how that might look. Trump and his wholly-owned Republicans should be aware that if this is their plan to help him cling to power, it’s hardly a secret one. Forewarned is forearmed.

Listen to ⁦@JRubinBlogger⁩. She speaks as a longtime conservative Republican, so she KNOWS the party. “ Democrats needn’t accept this narrative that Biden or BLM must bring a stop to the violence Trump is creating. They must denounce HIM for it. washingtonpost.com/opinions/2020/…
Trump is using an age-old tactic of white supremacists called “acceleration.” Rubin quotes @BrookingsInst: This phenomenon — reveling in violence from racial divisions they stoke — is part of the white supremacist playbook, specifically the phenomenon known as “accelerationism.”
More Rubin: on the media playing our part, unfortunately...

Let's just be clear: Donald Trump is not going to Kenosha to calm the city or to comfort the family of Jacob Blake, or the families of Anthony Huber and Joseph Rosenbaum, the two young men shot to death by one of Trump's supporters. He's going to Kenosha to whip up more violence.
Violence and mayhem, perpetrated by people who support HIM, unleashed at night and let's just be clear: by white nationalist mobs, often against other young white people (both Rosenbaum and Huber were white), in cities with few Black people, IS HIS RE-ELECTION STRATEGY. Period.
The "riots" are not Black Lives Matter marches gone wrong. Armed white nationalists are mobbing these cities to take advantage of protests and scare fellow white people into quietly siding with them. It's an old, tried and true strategy: using fear & anti-blackness for politics.

The people being arrested for vandalism, rioting and arson after the protests are not Black Lives Matter or “Antifa.” Report after report names Boogaloo & Proud Boys style white nationalists trying to scare white people onto their side and anarchists, who attach to any protest.
We in media need to be much more precise in how we’re talking about the legitimate, peaceful protests against police violence and the mostly nighttime vandalism and mayhem that no report I’ve seen has tied to BLM; while in multiple cities it’s the white nationalist right.
What would even be the point of Black Lives Matter committing mayhem?? The Black protesters among them are statistically more likely to be shot when police arrive, and they were polling well among white Americans. Use your logic. Who besides Trump benefits from any violence?

Let me repeat this for those inventing the idea of “Black Lives Matter riots.” BLM doesn’t “riot.” They march against police violence. And note that those caught setting fires, assaulting and shooting people are consistently of the RIGHT, not the left. kiro7.com/news/local/rio…
