Ok. Last but not least, my outlook on the San Francisco #49ers
A thread: Sponsored by CrockTime University
So I got this tweet from @fablee4 and i started thinking to myself “Self, what do the Packers have to do to beat the 49ers this season? 🤔” and then i expanded on that question to “Who will the 49ers be come playoff time? 🤔”
So i started off by looking at the 49ers as whole. Ok..let’s start with the defense... one that was ranked 1st or 2nd in defense last season.
Returning 10 out of 11 starters. Buckner being the key loss. Inserting a developing Kinlaw who maybe only be a 2 down guy right now
Even then, you are talking about Bosa, Ford, Armstead and really whoever else Lol Jones, Kinlaw, Solly Thomas. The DLine is pretty stacked. So I thought to myself “Will there be a drop off?”
Well.. even if they don’t play AS WELL as last year which was historically great against the pass.. maybe they go from a top 2 defense to a top.. 7 or 8 defense... that’s still really good. I don’t expect to see a drastic drop off on defense.
Now on to offense.. 😈
Returning 8 out of 11 starters on offense
Lost Staley - Got Trent Williams
Lost Persons - inserted Brunskill
Lost Sanders - Drafted Aiyuk
So ok, I’m confident with that group. Obviously you don’t know how a rookie Aiyuk will fill in for Sanders who played a big role last yr
So overall I think the 49ers should be a good team. And then I got to thinking about the original question. Will Packers beat 49ers in the playoffs? And started thinking about who will 49ers be come playoff time.. and that’s when I got excited
The 49ers will be solid defensively. Offensively come mid way through the season.. I just don’t know how teams will stop Kyle with all these weapons. Kittle and Deebo, Aiyuk who had the most catches by a receiver from Jimmy before his hamstring in camp. Mostert is too fast.
McKinnon healthy being the 3rd down back.. all the misdirection stuff.. speed everywhere. Jordan Reed being TE2 and killed it in camp. Jimmy wasn’t great last year and was still top 5 in most QB stats. It’s just a hard offense to stop and got more weapons. More dangerous.
Idk how the Packers beat them. Lol and teams better try to get on the 49ers early while they are settling in at receiver. Getting Deebo and Aiyuk back in playing shape.. and seeing who’s gonna be that 3rd guy. Taylor, Bourne, Pettis... but yeah.. it’s trouble for defenses

I’ve been up since 3:30am. Couldn’t sleep so of course my mind starts going crazy. Obviously about football because I’m obsessed. Specifically about QB’s and the draft since it’s a hot topic with my 49ers. So here we go.. thread time
So first I started thinking about just how impressed I’ve been with Zach Wilson. Saw Daniel Jeremiah say he has some Aaron Rodgers to him.. I was like ok I can see that. Then was like damn.. how high will he go? 2? 3? Top 8? Do you trade up for a guy? It’s a solid class..
And then I started thinking about teams in recent years that have traded up for QBs..
Rams moved up from 15 to 1 for Goff
Eagles from 12 to 8 to 2 for Wentz
Chiefs from 27 to 10 for Mahomes
Texans from 25 to 12 for Watson
(Clearly no QB is EVER out of reach if you want him)
Just my opinion/thoughts on Henry Ruggs coming out:
Ruggs is a SPEED GUY. Not just speed but he was taken at 12 before any other receiver b/c of his ELITE speed. Now.. I had him at WR6 and people thought I was crazy. But let me explain
When you are that speed guy and that’s your BEST trait..you have to learn how to use that as a threat on a down to down basis. So even if he’s running a slant or stop route give the elision of a vertical threat
Ruggs did not do that. When he played against GOOD corners in the SEC.. when you watch the film.. he was not using the threat of his speed consistently. From press corners in the SEC were way too comfortable. No way that should be playing dick to hip on 4.2 speed.
Also, wanted to briefly go over why I do threads and what I was looking for. My threads are typically longer because I post anything notable. Also, I do not know coverages.. I’m not in meetings.. so I’ll tell you what I think but can’t say for certain.
Alright.. 1st play. Receiver motioned down so it forced him to play off. Did a good job settling his feet and "taking the charge" as I like to call it. Now just keep the receiver in tight a little. Be a little stronger at the top. Not a bad rep. Not worried about getting ran by.
shadowing Thomas most of this game. From the 1st play in press. I'm big on challenging not only the receiver but yourself. Davis did a really good job all game with that. I think that last clip is the only catch Davis gave up in press vs Thomas
Off coverage work. I thought this was beautiful here. Utilizing the leverage step. Leverage step allows you to stay square while keeping your initial inside leverage with the receiver so the receiver cant cross face allowing the DB to break evenly in any direction or turn and run
Raheem Mostert
Tevin Coleman
Jerick McKinnon
Jeff Wilson Jr
Kyle Juszczyk
Receivers
Deebo Samuel
Brandon Aiyuk
Kendrick Bourne
Trent Taylor
Dante Pettis
Richie James Jr (had Austin here before IR. Also didn’t know James was coming off PUP)
I have not studied Trevor Lawrence so you can take this with a grain of salt. But I definitely have somewhat of an opinion on him from watching a lot of Tee Higgins this past draft season..
I think Trevor Lawrence bursted onto the seen as a true freshman and it was like “OMG this kids amazing.. beat Bama in the Natty and can only get better from here”.. watching last years Higgins film i was more impressed with Lawrence as a runner than i was as a pure passer
Clearly the skillset/talent off a top pick but I thought he was very inconsistent as a passer. I don’t think he’s the Andrew Luck type prospect he’ll be hyped to be.
