🚑 Week 2 Injury Thread 🚑

Full write up Tuesday with @TheFFBallers

My quick, concise thoughts on each injury + what we know now 👇
#49ers RB situation:

Trey Sermon: in concussion protocol

Elijah Mitchell: R shoulder injury, team believes is a "stinger type injury"; MRI tomorrow

Ja'Mycal Hasty: Ankle injury, to be evaluated more tomorrow. Severity currently unknown
#Browns Baker Mayfield

L shoulder dislocation: Returned to the game and was effective. Will be fine moving forward but is likely to require offseason labral repair surgery. If this was his R shoulder, he'd be done for the year

[Thread] - 1) Good evening sports fans! Ready for the ultimate hacked verified Twitter accounts thread? Over the past two years, I have kept tabs on around 70 verified accounts that were hacked by Arabic language operators for various reasons. The victims #disinformation
2 / range from 30 international athletes, to other public figures such as deceased US Senator Debbie Smith. The accounts have been used for various purposes, from scams to state propaganda. Some of the accounts are still active, while many have been suspended - read on for more!
3/ First up, Senator Debbie Smith. Smith, who served as a member of the Nevada Senate, sadly passed away in 2016 after battling with a brain tumour. Her Twitter account was hacked by an Arabic-speaking account, which changed it's handle to

A lot of discussion about the QB fits for the #49ers at No. 3. Wanted to look to see who was doing the things the Niners ask most of their QBs. Obviously, all drafted players are a projection but worth looking at considering Kyle Shanahan mentioned "comfort" with 3 QBs. (Thread)
Since Shanahan took over in '17, #49ers have taken the 3rd-most total snaps under center (52.13& of offensive snaps). They also have 3rd-most drop backs under center and 3rd-most play-action drop backs under center in that span. 33.8% of total passing yards off PA in that span.
Clearly, #49ers put a premium on the ability to do those things with their QB. Doesn't mean they can't expand or adapt (and they should!) based on their QB's skills. But worth noting how the top QBs have done in these areas in college...

People forget the #Patriots were 1 yard away from beating the #Seahawks, a fumble away from beating the #Bills and lost their starting QB to COVID against the #Chiefs and still almost won with the terrible tandem of Hoyer and Stidham...
Newton had a two game skid after COVID (which clearly has an effect on players) where they got smoked by the #49ers and came down to the wire with the #Broncos
Point is, the #Patriots were a couple of unfortunate events from winning all of those games, and I know football isn’t black and white but 3/5 of those games could’ve/should’ve been wins. That team last year almost won 10 games.

I know #49ers fans all have strong opinions on Jimmy Garoppolo, & it’s been a point of contention.

I’ve been vocal that I think it’s time to strongly explore other options, and this is a thread as to why I feel that way:

Here we go...
Garoppolo ranked 31st in intended air yds per attempt in 2019 & 32nd in 2020. However, he still had the 7th worst INT % at 2.7 in 2019 & the 2nd worst in 2020 at 3.6.

That’s too many INTs considering JG doesn’t push the ball downfield.

Also, JGs playoff INT % was 5.1%
We’re they all his fault?

According to @fboutsiders, Garoppolo’s ‘19 adjusted INT % (which account for INTs off receivers hands & dropped INTs by defense) was 3.6%. Only Winston, Allen, Rivers, Mayfield, Dalton & Jones were worse.

In playoffs, JGs adjusted rate was nearly 10%

In 2018, the #49ers unveiled all-white throwbacks into the team's uniform rotation. It is a tribute to the 1994 #SuperBowl championship team.

Since then, fans have lauded this and called for the red version to return.

Here is the history of these uniforms.

Continue thread.🔽 ImageImage
These throwback uniforms originally date back to the 1955 #49ers team. That team went 4-8.

The helmet was red (with no logo) and silver pants were sometimes worn. The original white uniforms featured black stripes.

This uniform was only worn this season.

In 1994, the #NFL celebrated its 75th year. Teams were to participate in league-wide throwback uniform celebration beginning in Week 3. A commemorative 75th anniversary patch was worn by all teams.

For the first two weeks, the #49ers wore the standard set.

Just watched #49ers All22 offense and 2 things jumped out to me.

1. Brandon Aiyuk is thinking ALOT while running routes.

2. Offensive line didn't block well for Tevin Coleman AT ALL. Really for all the backs outside of maybe 4 runs everything was getting blown up.
Brandon Aiyuk thinking a lot is to be expected in Kyle Shanahan's offense. The issue is when you are thinking while running routes you become a shell of yourself. Will take time.
Tevin Colemans box score probably didn't look very good but I wouldn't put that on him. Later I'll post a cut up of all his carries. Pretty much every carry was blown up before he could even get going.

Ok. Last but not least, my outlook on the San Francisco #49ers

A thread: Sponsored by CrockTime University
So I got this tweet from @fablee4 and i started thinking to myself “Self, what do the Packers have to do to beat the 49ers this season? 🤔” and then i expanded on that question to “Who will the 49ers be come playoff time? 🤔” Image
So i started off by looking at the 49ers as whole. Ok..let’s start with the defense... one that was ranked 1st or 2nd in defense last season.

Returning 10 out of 11 starters. Buckner being the key loss. Inserting a developing Kinlaw who maybe only be a 2 down guy right now

Oowweeee I saw all the tweets about Mostert and how he wasn’t this or that. And he’s selfish and not that good. Hasn’t done anything. Crazy asking for a trade. Crazy asking for more money. Kyle wouldn’t give him what he wanted. They don’t need him.

Could they win without Mostert? Sure. But he makes the #49ers better.
Now the only sucky thing is, 49ers don’t have to give him touches and that could lead to him not hitting his incentive marks. If they give him touches he’s a 1200 yard back 🤷🏾‍♂️. Just needs the opportunity

On Simms unbuttoned Kyle Shanahan is talking about how he called games early on to not lose and help the defense.

Said he knew it would be sketchy at the start with Jimmy G coming off of a torn ACL and having to lean on young receivers. Knew the offense would be stagnant
Simms asked if Jimmy started clicking when the #49ers traded for Sanders

“That was the timing of it but our defense and our run game carried our offense at the beginning of the year to where we didn’t have to do much or put a lot on Jimmy”
“During that time, though we were undefeated while all a sudden Jimmy never thought about his ACL come week 6,7,8. It allowed us to weather that storm that so many players have to go through coming back from an injury.”

I know y’all have seen the explosive highlights. I wanted shine light on a few things I’ve noticed that makes me really like him.. the little subtle things .. maybe things that Made Shanahan have him as his WR1 and trade up for him 🤔

Who is Brandon Aiyuk? #CrockTalk #49ers
I want to start by saying.. I hear people say Aiyuk is "raw' and while I definitely think there's room for improvement, I think he's further along with his consistency as a route runner than guys like Ceedee Lamb or Henry Ruggs.. Could name a lot of other guys too but yeah
I think that comes from him being a do it all guy at Sierra College. Got offered by Alabama and several other colleges to play DB. He's a legit athlete. Can play wtv he wanted. He chose WR. Luckily he didn't run into me because i would've said "Play CB kid" lol

Brandon Aiyuk, WR, #49ers
6'1" - 205 lbs
25th overall pick

Aiyuk surprised some people as the 6th WR off the board. An under the radar prospect who has a strong all around game and very explosive after the catch.

#NFLTwitter #NFLDraft #49ersDraft @MyFantasyLeague
[YAC Ability]

Aiyuk is near the top of this class for me when it comes to creating after the catch.

He's so twitchy with his movements and doesn't lose much pace when changing direction. I believe he's faster than his 4.5 40 time suggests (was dealing w/ a core muscle injury).
[YAC Ability]

Between this pick and the last year's Deebo pick, it's clear the 49ers value receivers who excel after the catch.

Even though they do it in different ways, Deebo more physical and Aiyuk more elusive, they produce similar results.
