Just had a very sad conversation of the victims in Lahore rape incident. The story is heartbreaking and gives goosebumps. @ImranKhanPTI and @UsmanAKBuzdar must show zero tolerance in this case. The educated girl has travelled on this route frequently in the past. 1/6
The woman was at family friend's home. They advised her repeatesky not to go at that hour but she had travelled this route regularly, finding it safe. What came as a surprise was the finishing of petrol. She immediately called the motorway police emergency line when car stopped2/6
The police took her location. She was aware of her situation, so she locked her windows and doors. Two men (demons) appeared out of nowhere and started threatening her, they had long sticks and heavy stones, she screamed but could not move her car, they smashed the car windows3/6
They beat her up badly. In the fight, they used punches and fists and beat up the kids, the beasts grabbed the little children and ran away, she ran after them for the sake of her children. The motorway police finally reached and found her car with blood and smashed windows..
They then informed local police. The woman was badly bruised, swollen feet and bleeding head and so were the children. The family who went to retrieve them from police station said they were all muddy and completely terrorised. They did not talk for hours. The children were numb.
The children could nkt talk for hours
They kept crying. She was inconsolable. The family tried their best to put them to sleep. "There were deserts lingering in the children's eyes", said the family member. "I had seen kids laughing only hours ago, now they were like ghosts".
"We told her to be strong for her children or children would never recover ", said the family friend. I just want to say to the #CCPOLahore that now his "surprise" should subside that it was a person who was caught in tragic situation, it was his police's duty to help her.
Therefore instead of expressing "utter surprise " why the woman was there in the first place, the #CCPOLahore should have worried why his police force failed to protect a mother. Today, all women in Pakistan are feeling unsafe. That is a failure of the Police.
Instead of wondering about the reasons why the woman was out...the #CCPOLahore should have wondered...how come two dacoits appeared minutes after her calling the police? Was the police helping the davoits? In the past, this has happened.
Both men were wearing identical brown shalwar kameez. #RemoveCCPOLahore
Tbe family of the victim clarified there was no personal enemy, it was a clear case of law and order mishap. #motorwayincident

Some more details on the sad #motorwayincident .The woman called the emergency number #130 and spoke to them giving them her location. They gave her a local number where she was told to call for help. She called that number and gave them the location too. She ,them waited for help
She is, obviously too traumatised to recollect everything.Yet, she said it was a long wait. She is of the opinion that she waited for at least an hour. She also said her car has special type of windows. It was next to impossible for an outsider to tell she was alone in the car.
When the men appeared, they headed straight for her car. They were also carrying a gun. One of them carried her two year old as they dragged her along. She tried running away once and waved at a passerby car. She said she was sure the car had stopped and she was relieved.

During my life in the UK, I enjoyed full freedom to act according to my religion and go to mosques and community centres. I was impressed by the government funded Islamic state school in London. While, working with Muslim Council of Britain, we conducted conferences. 1/6
There was a government funded helpline to solve problems and questions of Muslims based on religion. For instance, once I got a call from a girl who wanted to give her grandmother a Muslim burial but did not know how and the helpline helped her, active helpline was to support 2/6

At the cross roads of my life, at a sensitive time, I had found myself abandoned by a man with two little kids, the man refused to look after me or the children and decided to make his life elsewhere, in the same moment, another man, my father stood like a rock behind me, 1/10
Juggling between motherhood, womanhood and finishing studies and making a career was not an easy job. My father guardianed my two and a half months old as I travelled back to UK to finish off my studies. As I started my career in UK alongside my lil ones, the support came 2/10
Another man, head of our department at the University of Westminster, Alan Hiscok helped me by allowing my little one in the University as I studied, the librarian who would post the books to me so I don't have to travel with little kids3/10
