Here in the UK it's Organ Donation week. As this year my wife and my sister-in-law were both recipients of life saving transplants (kidney and stem cell respectively), I thought I'd say a quick few things...

In the UK the law changed this year to an Opt-Out system regarding organ donation after you die with the hope of increasing the number of organs that can be donated from deceased donors.

Although good progress, this doesn't replace signing up as an organ donor as the best way to make your intentions clear and make sure you can save lives should you pass away.

If you want to do something amazing, sign up to donate your organs after death using the link below. The procedures are very dignified and your family will still be able to choose what happens to your body.

But you don't have to wait until you pass away to make a difference in donating.

For many with blood cancer in the UK, stem cell donation is often the only hope of survival. The battle with the cancer ends up in a desperate race against time to find a stem cell match

If more people join the register to donate stem cells then more lives can be saved - it is as simple as that.

If you're between age 16-30, you can join the register. You may never be called upon, but you might one day have the chance to give someone hope of living.
