Hey @educationweek:

I’m curious as to what the rationale is for hiring this person to write an op ed for your website. Not only is she openly attacking a fellow educator, but calling social justice “crap” is alarming alongside your Black voices statements.

Thoughts/comments?
Oh, we are absolutely about to have some paired texts. I’ve GOT time and I hope I make you proud, @JennBinis. And also @jennthetutor because you have perfected the art of the drag.

Let’s start here: if I go on @educationweek’s Twitter account, I find this.
And yet you deliberately publish this, an article in which a white mom is complaining about the lack of white comfort in her son’s classroom. The entire article reads like a “woe is me, I’m not being centered!” piece.

You chose to publish it because...?
Do you...do you not get that education is political?

Do you not understand how it's important for my humanity as a Black woman should not only be recognized but honored alongside the lives of the white students that have CONSISTENTLY been amplified for so many years?
The fact that @educationweek even thought to publish this in the first place is absolutely shameful. The fact that this went to digital print and is being circulated right now is absolutely despicable.

You are BLATANTLY valuing white comfort over Black and marginalized voices.
I rarely cuss on here and my followers are probably going to look at me sideways but @educationweek, what the actual fuck were you thinking when you decided to publish this? Seriously?

And to see this woman's behavior? If you need a re-cap, let's see it. I've got receipts:
Oh look, here we go!

By hiring someone for op ed that says shit like this (cussing again, sorry, whatever) you, @educationweek, are complicit.

You do not stand with Black and marginalized lives. I’m calling it now.
Shame on YOU, shame on HER, and shame on whoever thought this would legitimately be a good idea to publish. Y'all are wild.

...again, open to any and all dialogue as to why this piece of shit news article even came to the table.

And you will be receiving a DM from me.
Ahhh, of course you cannot be messaged.

Thankfully I do have a contact at @educationweek that will be hearing from me. Right. Now.
They have been contacted. Now, I'm waiting.

@educationweek you are also more than welcome to respond to this thread as well.
Do I have a screenshot? Why, yes I do!

I am hoping that perhaps @educationweek is taking time to re-write, re-craft, re-whatever this tweet. By the time I pressed "send," it was already gone.
Also, @educationweek, please do not tag R*ck H*ss in the next response. This isn't about him and he is also a known "anti" crusader when it comes to things like this; I'm not sure what he would have to add when it comes to actually furthering this discussion.
