@RussInCheshire Okay, after reading the replies to this... as someone who is a linguist and has an operating knowledge of 4 languages in addition to my mother tongue, and who has worked in countries where English is NOT the main language...
@RussInCheshire ... if you learn to speak in the idiom of the native language whilst using your English words, you will definitely speed up communication. Adoption of the accent is an inevitable byproduct of adopting the sentence structure and makes you sound and feel like an idiot...
@RussInCheshire ...but it works. For all involved. It’s like if you were trying to communicate in your own second language, you probably learned specific syntaxes and verb structures and set phrases that you will recognise far quicker than colloquialisms...
@DPD_UK my parcel should have been delivered on Tuesday. I was ASSURED it would arrive today before 12pm so I went i to work at 7.45am to make sure someone was there. At 13.30 I am informed it will be there before 6pm. It is now 17.15 and no sign of it. We close at 6. (1/2)
(2/2) Do I have to go back to work AGAIN from 6pm until 10pm to keep the shop open and make sure I get it?? I don’t trust you to show up tomorrow. You haven’t yet. I need better updates, a better service, and a more punctual delivery.
I am now sitting in my shop in the hope that my driver will eventually show up. @DPD_UK don’t seem to be updating the parcel tracking page nor are they answering tweets. I will be FUMING if I am wasting my Friday night waiting for a parcel that’s already been given up on by DPD.
