I feel really burnt out lately and I'm trying to be more honest about it. I don't have the energy to text my friends back a lot of the time. I feel isolated and want to sleep a lot. Work is ... hard. I've mentioned this to a couple friends, who said they feel the same way.
I feel like we've hit this point in the pandemic that's sort of just a perfect storm for feeling this way. We're six months in, this is just how life is now, and it's lonely and exhausting. Early on, I felt like it was constant trauma, and now I just feel so, so tired.
I don't know how to fix this. Weekends don't feel like time to recharge, but naming how I'm feeling and being open about it has made me feel less alone, so I figured I'd say it here in case it helps other people.

Now on a press call with Sen. Chris Murphy, chair of Senate-side committee that oversees/funds Cap police. Will share any additional details we learn here, but so far seems like lawmakers have a lot of the same questions we do
Murphy said he's had convos with Sergeant at Arms and Chief of Police and has specifically asked Chief of Police about videos of law enforcement moving barriers to allow rioters in.
Murphy: "If you can't figure out a way to get significant significant troops to the Capitol within 60 minutes of an attempted assault on the Capitol, then I'm not exactly sure what the what the purpose of the investment we make every year in the Department of Defense is."
Rep. Tim Ryan, chair of the legislative approps committee that funds Capitol Police, says during presser he was "livid" that law enforcement "apparently missed this." Says they plan to find out what happened minute by minute and why there weren't proper reenforcements
Ryan says about 50-60 officers were injured, and 15 are in the hospital, 1 in critical condition. Said a lot of the injuries are head injuries because the mob of Trump supporters was using lead pipes to hit officers in the head
Ryan also said he a convo with the Sergeant of Arms before yesterday about threat assessment and was told there was sufficient manpower to protect the Capitol and members. Says he was told they didn't expect any violence, then took just over an hour for mob to breach the Capitol
hawley speaking on the floor and very much winding up to "actually it's patriotic for me to object" so don't get excited about going to bed early i guess
with a double-masked mitt sitting right behind him
hawley just said "irregardless" in case you wondered if, you know, smart people run this country
Electoral college certification has started, and Pelosi right out the gate warns Republicans to social distance and not crowd the floor.
This is a joint session, meaning all members of the House and Senate — all 535 of them — are gathered in the House chamber. The official Electoral College votes have been brought in in big boxes.
If a House member and a Senate member both object to the certification of a state, it will trigger a two hour debate and then a vote. Also, I can already see at least one member without their mask over their nose and mouth.
I’m back out tonight covering the #GeorgeFloydProtests in DC tonight with @ellievhall. A huge group of protesters are marching peacefully toward the Capitol as we head toward the White House.
The crowd is as far as I can see down Pennsylvania #DCProtests
National Guard outside the archives, plus lots of SORT (Special Operations Response Team) officers near DOJ. Almost every business downtown is boarded up.
