NEW: The temporary restraining order pausing the wind-down of #2020Census operations may be extended to Sept. 24, U.S. District Judge Lucy Koh says during a court conference for the Nat'l Urban League-led lawsuit over shortened #2020Census schedule. Court order's expected tonight
2. The Trump admin missing a deadline for producing a complete record of internal Commerce Dept documents & its inability to produce other docs in time, as ordered by Judge Koh, have led to schedule changes for the case that require the temporary restraining order to be extended.
3. Judge Koh said she'll do her "utmost to get a ruling out as soon as possible" after a hearing tentatively set for Sept. 22 at 10 a.m. PT re: plaintiffs' preliminary-injunction request.

"I understand the urgency of the ruling and the gravity of the situation here," Koh said.
4. Judge Koh said she's also planning to set these new dates:
- 9/18 conference at 10 a.m. PT
- by 9/18: DOJ files a record of docs dated 8/3 or earlier that were submitted for Commerce Dept inspector general's inquiry, plus privilege log
- by 9/20: both sides file 5-page briefs
5. A notable quote earlier in the court conference when Judge Koh was still considering another way forward in the case:

"I will sanction you if you don't produce the documents," the judge told DOJ attorney Aleks Sverdlov.
