An elementary-school teacher who was shot in the chest by a six-year-old pupil is said to be recovering from her injuries.
Abby Zwerner, a first-grade teacher from Richneck Elementary School, Newport News, Virginia apparently got into an ‘altercation’ with the six-year-old, who then pulled out a gun and shot her in the chest.
Before being rushed to hospital, Zwerner ‘screamed at her kids to run away’ and protected them from the armed child. She was later taken to hospital, where she remained in critical condition following lifesaving surgery.
