A teacher with MS is asking Biden a question about vaccines with regard to his compromised immune system; he says, "I love teaching, but I don't want to die." Biden is clearly moved & answers comprehensively, showing understanding of vaccine development. #BidenTownHall
The contrast between Biden and Trump could not be more clear. Biden's face shows his empathy; his words show his command of the issues. Biden is a man of the people suited to the presidency, the other is a monster.
Biden is responding to a healthcare worked who is making $15 an hour & is economically struggling; he shows really clearly that he understands Main St versus Park Ave. Says $15 an hour is not enough for a living wage. Then segues into the need for mental health. He's so good!
Biden says wearing a mask is a patriotic requirement & if Trump has done his job, many people would be alive today. Talks realistically about vaccine development & widespread dissemination across the US. He's right & telling the truth to Americans. So unlike Trump! #BidenTownHall
Boom -- Biden notes that a recent Pew survey shows leaders of China and Russia are more trusted internationally than Trump. And why? because of Trump's appalling handling of this pandemic.
Love how fierce Biden is about defending Obamacare and pre-existing conditions. OOOOHH now Biden is fiercely blasting Trump for calling veterans like his son, Beau, a "loser." I love angry Biden. Give me more angry Biden.
Man, if you're a person of color or a human being with a moral conscience, listening to Biden talk about racial justice, police reform, white privilege is refreshing. Very good at intersectionality here on racial prejudice & socioeconomic prejudice. Contrast to Trump is stunning
Holy crap, guy called Bill Barrett who is on Wilkes-Barr city council is up asking a question and Biden asks if he hasn't met the guy before. Barrett confirms yes. STFU with Joe Biden being in cognitive decline. He's as freaking sharp as a quality knife.
Biden is knocking this out of the park -- incredible. He's like high end audio tubes-- the more he plays, the better he sounds. #BidenTownHall
I am 100% anti-fracking so let's get that out of the way. But Biden is explaining why it is a transition en route to sustainable energy & I assure you he sounds informed about his position in a way that Donald "global warming is a hoax" Trump cannot match.
Biden warns that there "will be a price to pay" if the Russians interfere with our elections again. He also notes that we need to assist states in ensuring election security. Calls for a paper ballot trail. Good.
Biden warn of Russia's aim to weaken NATO, points to effects of Russian influence in countries like Belarus right now. Explains we need to reduce US presence in Afghanistan so it is only counter-terrorism. He laps the field on foreign policy and it shows.
This is a hostile questioner on deregulation family farms; obviously a Trumper. But Biden, to be honest, is shocking me with his knowledge of pollution, fertilizers, manure, chickens, and farming. I am lost at sea on this issue...
Biden's answer on building bipartisan bridge building is going to be catnip to independent voters. They will love it. Me -- I want to ensure we vote out every damn Republican & I really don't ever want to talk to a Trumper. But then again, I am not running for president.
And that's it. Papa Joe handled this townhall like a champ. If you talked smack about his acumen, you should eat crow. A lot of it. He just gets better & better. I am 100% confident that this country will be elevated by Biden as president. Thanks for the solidarity here. Aloha!

If Trump is convicted of federal crimes, he will have to be incarcerated. The question arises as to how this would be done for a former president with Secret Service detail. I doubt he would be under house arrest at MAL where some federal crimes are alleged to have take place. 🧵
2. The Secret Service has no protocol for a protectee who has been convicted of a crime & imprisoned, so one would need to be developed if such a situation arose. One option? Shift agents in a secure federal facility.
Straight up Russian propaganda that benefits the GOP. This man is a useful idiot doing the work of Putin & the fools on the left will fall for it the same way they fell for the Russian asset, Jill Stein.
Imagine running for president & claiming NATO provoked Russia into genocidally attacking a sovereign country. Meanwhile, only tools of Russia propose peace talks since they will involve sacrificing Ukrainian territory.
This man in UNFIT for the presidency.
Every bit of that Cornel West tweet demonstrates an ideologue stuck in the past, who has not caught up with the present reality unfolding in Europe. It demonstrates how wholly unsuited he would be to any political leadership role. He would be as dangerous as Trump.
On this historic day when for the 1st time a former president has been charged with federal crimes, I have thoughts. A brief thread follows. /1
For more than 20 years (yes, that's going to age me, millennials - my favorite dating pool), I have written about the world for a living. /2
I have written about democracy and dictatorships, about democracy and coup d'etats. I have written about war and peace, about power and influence, about good governance and corruption, about legitimacy and authority. /3
Oh my God. Trump lawyer Parlatore is on tv flapping his lips about events in the grand jury. It is bloody shocking.
Andrew Weissmann wisely points out that there is no way Parlatore would not be in the room with the Grand Jury unless he was a witness. Parlatore goes onto explain why he had to be in the room. GO BACK to Weissmann, @MSNBC !!
Borrowing from Dostoevsky, Ogarkova calls Russia a culture where you have "crime without punishment, and punishment without crime." Indeed, "the powerful murder with impunity; the victims are punished for no reason." For Russia, war crimes ARE THE POINT. theguardian.com/commentisfree/…
Russia claims to be a powerful “pole” in the world to balance the West – but has failed to create a successful political model others would want to join. So it has nothing left to offer except to drag everyone down to its own depths.
