Good Lord, who okayed this speech by JD Vance? It is the intersection of bad narrative and bad delivery. I mean, I cannot hope to understand the mind of a MAGA wacko, but I can't see this doing well with independents. If Trump is convicted of federal crimes, he will have to be incarcerated. The question arises as to how this would be done for a former president with Secret Service detail. I doubt he would be under house arrest at MAL where some federal crimes are alleged to have take place. 🧵 2. The Secret Service has no protocol for a protectee who has been convicted of a crime & imprisoned, so one would need to be developed if such a situation arose. One option? Shift agents in a secure federal facility.

Take a good look at this graph from AFP. The reality is that if Joe Biden were not president, this would not be happening. Trump, the Russian Agent, would be doing Putin's bidding instead. Ukraine has a fighting chance against genocidal Russia because Joe Biden is president. Republicans have already said that if they win the midterms, funding for Ukraine will be curtailed. They do not seem to grasp that victory for Ukraine is NECESSARY for the free & democratic world. Then again, democracy isn't really their thing.

In a formal ceremony, Russia has illegally annexed at least 40,000 sq miles of eastern & southern Ukraine, about 15% of Ukraine’s total area.

Meanwhile, on the ground, Ukrainian forces have completely encircled Russian troops around Lyman in Donetsk. So while Putin drones on (and on) with his greatest hits narrative regarding Mother Russia, Ukraine is actually kicking their ass. According to Reuters, Ukrainian forces now have an open path to seize more territory in Luhansk & Donetsk provinces.

Today's hearings have started with a discussion of Trump supporters' enthusiasm for hanging Trump's VP, Mike Pence.

I am no fan of Mike Pence but every patriot should regard this as VILE and horrific. Trump knew what he wanted was a violation of the ElectoralCountAct. He was repeatedly told that Pence would not act to overturn the election results, but Trump & Eastman plotted to pressure him anyway. As Cheney noted, Trump's pressuring of Pence was "illegal & unconstitutional."
