1) I voted for @HillaryClinton in 2016, and campaigned for her.
I loathed her campaign and many of her positions.
I voted for her because the movement I am a part of helped shape the Democratic Platform and because I knew we could apply pressure.
But mostly I voted bc...
I wanted to own some small piece of responsibility for what came next.
I voted for her so that she would have been MY President and MY responsibility-to push her, protest her, goad her and move her at every stage.
Democracy is a responsibility. My vote for her was one small..
piece of the power we hold collectively. We must hold our representatives to account, and by my actions I was owning this responsibility- not excluding myself fro it. It was my commitment to the progress of our movement and to our mutual ownership of the government.
Of course, although I still hold no illusions about how terrible Hillary is, but should would have been much better for this country than Trump. We would never have known the names of Kavanaugh and Gorsuch. Our 2016 Dem Platform took real climate action. We would still be
In the Paris accords on climate change- a crucial first step. And so many other positive and important things.
I feel the same way about @JoeBiden. I will vote to own his Presidency and take part in the future of the nation.
I have seen Joe be moved by our movement -
Far more than Hillary, in fact. He is campaigning on a two trillion dollar climate plan. That is HUGE! @KamalaHarris is the first black and south Asian woman ever to run as VP. Also HUGE.
Please consider your vote as a commitment to progress and to change. Vote like you have “skin in the game” as @AOC said last night. Vote like your life is in the line.
Because it is.
Own your power and own your stake in all this.
We must stop fascism. We must have change.

@EladNehorai My grandparents were born in Poland. Miraculously they escaped the Nazis and survived.
When they went back after the war their oldest child, my uncle, was shot in the face.
They left.
I tried to get Polish citizenship last year. I was refused because I’m Jewish.
@EladNehorai Because I was told I needed to prove paternity. But Poland at the time of my grandparents marriage did not view Jewish marriages as legal.
I should be granted citizenship and entrance into the EU. But because Poland has antisemitic laws. I can’t.
That’s legacy antisemitism.
@EladNehorai So tell me that we are from Europe. We are not. Jews were not allowed to own land. Jewish marriages were not accepted as legal.
We were always and still are second class citizens in Europe.
That’s why Jews made a movement to go home to where they are exiled from. Israel.
It feels horrifically uneasy but I actually think it could end up being a good thing.
This country has always been built on a lie, by a lie.
As the lie disintegrates the country does too
How can the land of the free have been built upon slavery, racism, genocide and environmental destruction?
No freedom is possible under such circumstances. Not for anyone- master or slave, serf or landlord.
And so this fundamental lie, this deep ingrained lie has led us here.
America has never adequately addressed nor healed the legacy of racism and slavery. Inequity, violence, incarceration, subjugation and evil are the legacy that continues to create perpetual instability and hatred. We cannot reconcile the fundamental nature of property here.
This is me getting arrested in the Capitol in 2012 for legally documenting a hearing on #fracking.
I was charged with “unlawful entry”.
There were two dozen cops present. I was arrested within 15 mins.
Never doubt what happened today.
Capitol police were complicit today.
Actually there’s a really nice jail in the Capitol.
The cleanest emptiest jail I’ve ever been in.
I always tell folks- if you want to get arrested, do it in the Capitol because it’s so cush.
All day I thought about that clean empty jail where I was handcuffed to the wall.
Watching these white supremacists trashing the capitol I remembered every pair of zip ties. Every friend shot by a rubber bullet. Every cop brutalizing a friend.
It’s clear that Trump and the @GOP’s lawsuits are not aimed at courts- they are frivolous and they get thrown out every time.
They are aimed at creating a sense of outrage among their delusional constituents.
The GOP is trying to create a total loss of faith in our democracy.
They want to create a subset of the American population that believe in a total lie.
In fanning the flames and stoking the ire of these people they are creating a political weapon- a racist, authoritarian, anti-science bullying force that can be used to bludgeon the country.
Having a huge percentage of the population divorced from reality helps them to maintain policies that are unequal, racist, anti-science and exploitative.
In other words, the GOP is wiling to totally divide this nation in order to maintain their agenda and stop progess.
Trump not conceding is much more dangerous than it appears.
After WWI a group of German soldiers never conceded defeat after Versailles. They became an armed militia - the Frei Corps- for 20 years and eventually became Hitler’s SS.
Trumps armed militia supporters are very...
similar. They pose a huge threat to the future and to democracy.
These people are racist, authoritarian, violent and they don’t care about what is true and what is not.
Bu the most dangerous thing about them is that they feel wronged. They feel cheated. They, like their...
predecessors, The Frei Corps, feel that they have to keep fighting until they achieve a victory. The more this smolders, the more dangerous it gets.
That’s where Trump comes in- if he clings to these falsehoods, and to these armed militias, he can bring enormous pressure...
