The next round of Corps Commanders talks between India and #China for #lehstandoff have been fixed for Monday. A quick analysis on what these talks would aim to achieve for both :
1. N. Pangong Fingers : India would want Chinese to back off from finger 5 and restore previous ..

Patrolling routes for Indian troops till finger 8. China might, MIGHT, agree to this but only for finger 5. Beyond that it will not demolish its boatyards and new infrastructure it has built. But it’ll ask for India to vacate occupied heights Finger 4 and operate from ITBP post.

2. Hot springs and Galwan valley, both have massive infrastructure on chinese side and even if India asks them to move back, ain’t happening. Both are well connected to G219 and cantonments..

3. Depsang remains very heavily fortified from Chinese side with new positions created, with surveillance posts and radars included..

and continuing to threaten DBO airstrip, is a position where China will not budge even a bit. It is it’s strongest position and exceptionally critical location in case it has to defend Aksaichin or even launch offensive into India. Nothing can be achieved here with these talks.

4. Finally, South Pangong. The recent hub of activities. Here China would want India to vacate Bump etc because they have direct line of sight and fire into Spangur gap. It’s highly unlikely that India would vacate them now. Because getting them back would be a humongous..

As anticipated, till now there hasn’t been any successful outcome from the talks. The reasons are the same as mentioned in the thread. Both sides want the other to leave the position of strength, without compromising its own; and none is ready to do it. **Winter is Coming**
