Storage position of Major 5 reservoirs of KSEBL, which stores 92% of total storage of our 18 reservoirs.

Idukki - 75.6%
Idamalayar - 78.42%
Kakki - 75.03%
Banasurasagar - 96.95% and spilling
Sholayar - 96.74% and spilling

We have 6 small reservoirs whose capacity is between 30.3 MCM to 54.38 MCM, in that 3-4 always spill at every monsoon season. Total storage 7% of the total storage.

Spilling reservoirs

Poringalkuthu (Thrissur) and Ponmudi (Idukki) are now spilling.

We have 7 minor reservoirs, which are having storages between 0.71 MCM to 7.79 MCM. Most of these reservoirs need a day's heavy rainfall needed to spill even if they are empty & their storage is 0.74% of total storage

The Indus water will continue to flow due to gravity to Pakistan, since India has no storage structures on its tributaries Jhelum, Indus and Chenab to prevent the flow to downstream.

In nutshell, freezing a treaty doesn't alter gravity flow 😎

Sutlej, Beas and Ravi are eastern; Jhelum, Chenab and Indus itself are western.

Under IWT, India got share of Eastern rivers (33 maf) while Pakistan got Western Rivers share (133 maf).

Teesta -III dam is a 60 M high concrete-faced rock-fill dam (CFRD) with 816 m gross head with a storage capacity of just 5.08 mcm (0.18 TMC).

It has an underground Power House housing 6 units of 200 MW (1200 MW) of vertical Pelton turbines, 5213 MU/yr in 90% dependable year.

The above run-of-the river project has two spillway tunnels and chutes spillway.

The chute spillway with two bays having radial gate of size 11MX 14m is located on the left bank for passing a maximum discharge of 3500 cumecs.

My #thread on Rs.2000 notes.

Total number of Rs. 2000 notes was reduced from
33,632 lakhs on 31/03/2018 to
21,420 lakhs on 31/03/2022,
ie,36.3% reduction in 5 years!

But value-wise, it is drastically reduced from
50.2% of total value in 2017 to
13.8% of same in 2022

To replace the quantity of Rs.2000 notes with Rs.500 notes, RBI only needs to print 85,860 lakh pieces Rs.500 notes.

In 2021-22, RBI printed 1,28,003 lakh pieces of Rs.500 currency.

RBI has the capacity to print & supply around 2,22,500 lakh notes every year..
