I just had to explain to Ann Widdecombe that Japan is a little further than 2000 miles away, and that the countries within 2000 miles of us ARE EU COUNTRIES!
P.S. We signed a "continuity" trade deal with Switzerland & Liechtenstein but:
a) In both GDP and trade volume, they're about 4% of the EU.
b) That 4% will fall, because if there's No-Deal, Swiss trade falls due to basic geography and mutual recognition agreements will fail too.
I calculated that 4% figure from the 31 billion in trade the government said we do with Switzerland when they announced the agreement.
Well today, that same government said the borders are ***** in January. So exporting to Switzerland might not be as easy. news.sky.com/story/brexit-m…
So the more accurate question would be "Name a country that doesn't have any trade deals with over 95% of the GDP within 2000miles?" but it doesn't have the same ring to it.
And if Switzerland is your last line of defence against admitting you committed economic suicide...😬

Can you imagine if, during the years of Brexit renegotiations (2020-24), journalists had grilled the Tories on their manifesto promise to get Brexit done.... as much as they're now grilling Labour on whether they're "taxing working people"?
It shows they CAN do their jobs.
They just chose not to with the Tories.
Look at this.
It's very good journalism by @WilfredFrost, exposing that the Labour manifesto used the technicality of not directly taxing working people, but it still hits them.
"Get Brexit Done" was literally the title of the Tory manifesto and was NEVER challenged like this.
Boris Johnson started renegotiations SIX MONTHS after winning an election on a promise to end the Brexit negotiations.
So there's nothing subjective about the fact that the Tory government was elected on a lie.
Yet NOT ONE news station categorically communicated that fact.
